Just to be clear on the title of this thread...this is a CHARLOTTESVILLE meet. (thanks for the clarification andyp)...

Times for Sunday:

Those meeting up in Short Pump (West End of Richmond) to head on to Charlottesville should plan to meet in front of the B&N bookstore again at 10am. We'll leave from there promptly at 10:30am and head towards Charlottesville.

All should plan to meet up in the parking lot across from Bodo's by noon for lunch. As Dan has suggested, we should be able to begin the drive by 1:30pm

-------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, I'll start the list here...

ME!!!!!
So that makes the following attendees:

Well, I am away this weekend and have a pretty busy week, but we can sort out details over email. I don't mind being responsible for the road plan, if Nix or Ric want to do other details. We will be in touch.

Nix and ric....pm or email me.

To clarify....I can make the 8th. I was just letting people know that I wasn't able to put forth "efforts to plan" during this coming weekend. If people think that course was enough, then we are set. But, extending it shouldn't present a problem....just so you know. I don't want our cars getting bored on the same roads. W1ngman's suggestion of meeting at Bodo's Bagels on Emmet Street is a good one, and unless other C'ville folks have a problem with it, we should just do that. Someone can post directions later, once we are sure thats whats gonna happen.

Rodney, lets get a detailed road map of the area, plot out the old route and extend it some. It was awesome, but I can definately go for more. I also know a way to avoid some of the stop lights! I am up for the 8th, although I was planning to go to an autocross that day. I guess I will just wait for the next one at FedEx field! Send me a PM on when you have some time to work on it.

Also - everyone please send PM's to people to generate interest...for the people that were there last time and for others who could make it. We might as well make this baby big!

DEFINITELY count me in!!! I loved the drive we did last time, I don't think I would get tired of that one anytime soon. I would like to extend it though, if possible?

One good idea would be to have a break about halfway, like that school we stopped at. It would let everyone catch their breath and talk about the first half of the drive.

And would everyone minded too much if we started a little earlier? I have a LONG way to get back home

That "set of roads" is new enough to me that one time ain't makin' me bored yet...but I *do* agree that I could enjoy more. One thought just to put out there: Why not run the course to the school, break at the school, then simply reverse the course back to [basically] the beginning again??? Surely approaching the same curves in reverse would be like hitting an entirely new set of roads?...

Now mind you, I'm not *saying* do this... Especially because I would grant that there are, in fact, a ton of great roads through those foothills. I'm just making a suggestion for "Sept 8th" to offer a great course, with enough drive time to satisfy, ... and without too much necessary preparation.

An aside... Making this "a great big event" makes it fun; no doubt. As a word of caution, I would suggest, however, that you consider/enlist 1 to 2 extra "Road Captains" familiar with the roads you plan on taking. If the final group meet is large (20+), then consider breaking into 2 to 3 separate groups divi-ing cars up equally so folks don't get lost, etc. Also a good consideration when a rogue motorist manages to squirrel into a line of 30 cars...can really bust the fun. A lil' less likely event if the group is running w/ 7-10 cars...still possible, just less likely to inflict emotional (i.e. gas pedal/brake) stress. Just a thought...
