Ever since I've owned an S2000, I've hated the fugly color of the brake calipers. On my '00 Berlina Black, they hinted on a pewter finish but on my '02 they were just a light pale ugly green!

So, I went ahead and gave them a slight acid wash (very mild) and they became a bit brighter and much less green looking. But I never really liked them any better. The ultimate, I believed, would be having them powdercoated. But the time to do such a thing and the money factor too was just enough to keep me semi-satisfied looking at the pale green ones I had.

Well, a few weeks back during a valve adjustment meet in Richmond, Dave (w1ngman) had his valves on the S2000 adjusted and while that was being done, he decided to paint his valve cover yellow.

Here's a pic of w1ngman's baby. . .

He used some HIGH TEMP primer paint first and then sprayed on some yellow HIGH TEMP paint. Looks fantastic!

So, this got my gears turning and I thought, hmmmm. . .wonder if I could use the same set-up to do my brake calipers. Well, so happens I did just that and they look fantastic and work very well. I love them! It is a great mod and the results are superb. I highly recommend this easy project to anyone who wants to improve the overall look of their S2000.

Here are some pics. . .before and after. . .

Before any prep work.

During the prep work.

Some shots before the rims go back on.

Now some pics with the rims on.

Overall, the work took about 4 to 5 hours. The HIGH TEMP paint took very little time to dry and even after a hellacious drive in Charlottesville, they have no flaws on them! In addition to that drive, was the 4 hour trip back home on 95 and they still look glossy wet! I am very satisfied with them!

Looks great airgate!

My favorite asthetic mod. Subtle - but they really make a big difference.

Got mine done by rick as well. Very high quality work and they still look great even after some hard breaking at times. No fading chipping or peeling!!!

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!

Yeah, I wish I could get a set of slotted or cross drilled rotors that are nickel plated!
