heated side mirrors switch question
hi guys,
i've figured out the part number for heated side / wing mirrors for +MY04.
http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/honda_ca...&block_03=19258
however, I'm not sure where to hook them up to. I have a MY00 AP1, so I don't even have the rear glass element defrost switch.
from the tidbits of info that i read on a thread in the UK forum, I think the switch is on the same switch as the rear window defrost switch. Can anybody confirm this?
thanks,
Tim

That's right, the same button operate the rear window and mirror heater elements.
Part number for the switch is:
35500-S2A-G01
but you will need an MY04+ centre console to fit it.

wow thanks! however, i drive an AP1, which has NO defrost switch, and i think it takes quite an effort to add that switch to an AP1. And since:
- there aren't that many AP1s out there (compared to AP2s)
- fewer that would add the OEM hardtop
- AND that live in a place cold enough that would require the effort to add a defrost switch,
there is quite a lack of information concerning adding a defrost switch.
but knowing this helps a lot! The worse case is that i figure out a way to hook up the defroster circuitry, as i'm sure that the actuator heating element would require a timer switch to operate safely; so it wouldn't be too hard.
I've read that AP1s have a defrost switch in the centre console, but it's still very hard to find info on them. Honda Japan had a AP2 softtop conversion for AP1s that included a switch or something...
anyways, thanks again!

wow.. actually , in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=742253
there is a picture of the MY00-01 hardtop rear defroster switch!
that's what i need to keep it OEM!
however, i like that place for coins, but now that i know that the switch exists, it's not hard for me to reroute the wires somewhere else for a lighted switch in a place of my own!

2nd question:
the wiring on this diagram only shows 3 switches (http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/ho...block_03=19258)
but also, in my North American service manual, i only see 3 wires (see my screenshot)
so my question is this:
How do the heated mirrors get their power for defrosting and control, if there are the same number of wires for the heated version and non-heated version? Wouldn't there be at least one or 2 more wires for additional control signals?

Hi,
IIRC, the early models DID NOT have the heated door mirrors, hence the 3 wires.
The later models, had the heated door mirrors, and I think they had 4 wires.
Someone more knowledgeable will o doubt come along & confirm (or not)

Not looked at any pics, but;
I have an MY00
It has a Hard Top
It also has a rear screen defrost button, next to the washer jets button.
I still have the cup holder / cubby hole in front of them.
ummm, that is all?
