VSA Module Failure
Sorry if this is a somewhat duplicated post, but my search only turned up a similar topic under "special interest" "FI" or in the UK thread. This doesn't match my problem since mine is bone stock, US delivered. But I'm open to any thoughts or ideas.
VSA light came on and stayed on; dealer diagnosis - bad module, $2400 to replace. Fortunately it's still under warranty (MY07). It's still at the dealer's since the module had to be ordered (it seems that there is a bit of a run on these modules...???).
For those of you that have had the VSA module replaced, has it stayed fixed? I was wondering whether the replacement module was any more reliable than the original one.

Well, it's still at the dealer. They replaced the VSA module and it's still throwing codes and none of the necessary parts are stocked locally. Now it's the Steering Angle Sensor that needs to be replaced - another 3-4 days waiting for parts.
OK, so WHY DIDN"T THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE WEATHER WAS BAD???
You can bet I'm happy for warranty coverage because it's beginning to look like an insurance company might have totaled it based on percentage coverage. $2400 or so for the VSA module plus who knows how much for the Steering Angle Sensor (located in the steering column - so more labor).
I'll be very interested to see what the total bill comes to (academic question since it will be sent to Honda).
Once again - anyone had these problems, had them fixed, and seen any recurrence??

If it's an ABS sensor, wouldn't the ABS light also come on?
Warranty support is sometimes helpful.
(I'm considering extending the warranty based on these problems. Any thoughts?)

The problem I had with my VSA was quite unusual. The VSA lights would randomly come on and and the same time cut my power which when pulling out of a junction or driving on the freeway was quite scary. The dealer replaced the TPS also the DBW sensor and finally the VSA module(error codes for all these parts came up). Everytime the dealer replaced one of the parts they would give me the car back and it would be fine until the next morning where the problem would re appear. Basically the car would be fine after clearing the fault codes but if the car was turned off for more than a few hours the problem would return. The dealer said that the problem was that the VSA module and the engine ECU would stop talking to each hour if the car was left turned off for a while so they unplugged the ECU and left it unplugged for a while then reconnected it and the car has been fine since (4 months now)
If anyone has had any problems like this, try unplugging the ECU

Whoa, finally got the car back from the dealer. Two parts (VSA Modulator and Angle Sensor) had to be ordered separately - took more than a week). But all of the indicators are now OK, so maybe I can trust the repair - or...???
All covered under warranty for $1890. Since I have 5 months left on the original warranty, I asked about extended. They wanted $1900 to extend it to 120k miles, 8 years, zero deductible, bumper to bumper. Seems to me I've seen better terms on this site (warranty thread) so I'm not jumping on it. $1900 sounds like a lot, but that's what they just spent on the VSA module and Angle sensor.
Thoughts?
