2010 S2K Challenge #9 - Buttonwillow - 10/23/10
Our ninth 2010 S2K Challenge event was held on October 23, 2010 at Buttonwillow Raceway.
Weather: PERFECT. High of 71.6F and a low of 58.9F. It had rained all week prior to the event, and forecast to rain the next day, so timing for this Challenge was perfect!
This event set a record for most participants at one competition for the S2K Challenge Series with 30 drivers participating. Format was fast lap time of the day.

LAP TIMES:

Stock Class

There were several new drivers in Stock Class, and after a tough battle, the results were clear by the end of the day. Doug Chan came in first with a 2:06.8. Albert Gavieres came in second with a 2:08.4. Newcomer Hammad Shah came in third, with a 2:10.7.
1st Place received a free valve adjustment from Tony Fuch Racing and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Street Class

Street Class stepped up the competition with some BLAZING times, espeically when compared to previous Buttonwillow events. Nam Yoon clocked an AMAZING 2:01.1 on STOCK SUSPENSION.
Ben Rigaud came in second with a 2:02.4. Fil Craciun and Konstantin Nikiforov were separated by only 0.002 seconds after all the qualifying sessions, so Speedventures allowed a final time trial battle between the two at the end of the day. After a nail-biting final session, Fil came out on top with a 2:04.7 to clench 3rd place.
1st Place received a full fluid swap from Rising Star Motors and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Modified Class

The fast Modified Class was exciting to watch as usual but was missing a few to competitors (Jim Tway was at a bowling tournament in Las Vegas and Si Tang was MIA). Mark Tsai, our 2009 champion came in first with a 1:58.9. Ed Lee acheived his personal best with a 1:59.2 for 2nd place. Mike Tsay came in 3rd with a 1:59.6. Also to note, our fourth place competitor, Daryl Chan, came in at 1:59.7 on Street Tires!
1st Place received a free alignment from Evasive Motorsports and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Class Standings

Hope to see you all at our next event at Street of Willow on November 7, 2010...cheers!

Congratulation Ed, that last turn was nicely done. That's the one turn I have a tuff time perfecting. As for the bloopers, it seems like your eye sight was on his bumper, when he went off, you had to follow.
