Default Effect of CR front lip only on aero

Hi All,

So, my 03 AP1 got wrecked. I have to replace the front bumper. I track the car occasionally and autocross it as much as possible.

I assume that aero changes aren't very significant for autocross. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Currently the car had the AP1 optional front lip and no rear wing/spoiler.

I'm thinking of replacing the front with the CR bumper and front spoiler/lip.

In the rear, I don't think I'd add the CR wing, primarily because it's my daily driver as well, and the aesthetics are a little much for me.

Because the CR front lip does actually generate downforce, would I be unbalancing the car for track days? While I am aggressive in my driving, I do not have much high speed experience.

If so, would either the rear spoiler lip or the sort of rare OEM rear wing be of any benefit? Or are they cosmetic only? Is it possible, that if they are cosmetic only, that they'd actually increase lift or drag significantly?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

The CR lip does nothing Canards can't do. Chargespeed/ASM make some that have the same downforce profile as the CR lip.

The CR lip is only ugly on certain colors.

My setup is completely stock at this point as this is my DD. I'll be increasing the camber front and rear, but don't want to increase enough to cause abnormal wear on my street tires since 90% of my mileage is freeway driving. Tires are always top of the line street such as Star Specs, P-Zero's and AD08's.

The car is Silverstone Silver, so I'd think the CR lip will sort of blend in, not really stick out.

I'm partial to the CR lip because of it's perfect fitment and friendly street profile in terms of unexpected dips/driveways ect. not causing any damage.

CR lip helps. but I would stay away unless you add a rear wing. if you have a rear wing, then CR lip helps quite a bit. w/o a wing, you will just spin more often at high speed corners.

Remember that vid of Gan San driving the S2000 prototype at the Ring? He did just fine without the CR lip. If you like the looks, do it, otherwise for a DD with occasional track duty I wouldn't stress out over aero benefits, or lack thereof.

I mostly would do it for the looks...to be a little different than the average S2000 on the street. I just want to make sure it wouldn't unbalance the car to much on the track.

And, regarding the factory rear lip or the factory rear wing...anything more than cosmetic? Is it possible that they weren't aero tested by Honda and could actually increase lift instead of adding downforce?

I think you have to get the CR trunk with the CR wing. If I remember correctly, the CR trunk has reinforcements to support the downforce effects of the CR wing.
My question is, if I were to get a CR wing replica (since authentic CR wings are hard to come by and expensive) will I need to reinforce the trunk or get the CR trunk? Thanks in advance.
