so what do you all think of having a mid-week jaunt (similar to this last weekend's trip up to Pt. Reyes)?

this would allow us to seriously cut back on traffic woes and would give us greater flexibility in dealing with weather...

some of the roads up north would be SOOO good without traffic...

Me three. Actually, it would make it easier to for me. No hassles from wife over spending time with her as she is off doing her volunteer work every day. All I would need is a few days notice as well.

I'd be in if its down south. The 200 mile roundtrip was fun, but not sure I could do it everytime we tackle a drive though. Besides, I want to be in top shape to keep up with Chris East Bay and South bay would be cool with me.

Malachi: I'd be in for a weekday sojourn. I took a solo ride one rare Sunday in January, when the sun was out, from my home in San Ramon to the North gate of Yosomite. 2 hrs. 20+ min., one way. I confess, the top was up on the way up: 71 miles to Oakdale and 71 miles to the North gate. Snow on the side of the road, blue sky, and beautiful scenery. Good roads. Great mtn. driving from just before Jamestown through Groveland to the north gate. I did not enter the park. I came home with the top down. Central valley is turning into suburbia, but the foothills retain their character. The drive is worth the spectactular rural, mountain scenery. One could eat in the Yosimite valley, Jamestown, or Sonora; I came back to a micro- brewery in Oakdale.

I don't do 115.
