In case you didn't catch the first results, I ended up blowing out the welds on the intercooler and loosing boost...

Went back to the dyno again last night and first run I made around 395 hp at around 11:1 AFR. After the first base runs we saw that we had really good AFR's (around 12's) below 5000 rpm, and after that it broke up. We started pulling fuel out and doing more runs. We had some interesting results which eventually indicated to us that air intake temps were playing a huge role on power results (10+hp) so we let the car cool for about 5 minutes between runs. After about the 10th run. Eventually we moved up to 6000-7000rpm power increases and managed to pull a peak power (just by modifying fuel below 9000) up to 405hp or so. On the 19th run There was a loud pop and the car stalled. We started it up again and the dyno was making a loud squeeling noise. He (owner of the dyno) made some adjustments and tried again but it never worked after that.

So... I broke the dyno!

I have my air fuel ratios alot closer to 12:1 up to about 7000 rpm where it takes a nose dive to high 10's, which is obviously killing peak power..

I believe that I will reach peak power around 420-430 on pump gas at 20psi.

There are a couple other issues which concern me a little bit. I think there is more power potential that I can squeeze out... we'll see.

Cripes, Chris....now I'm not sure if I want my next job to be in Florida to be close to you, or in Cali to be close to UL. All I can say is (for my benefit, of course) document, document, document...

Excellent results Chris, especially on pump gas. I'd be concerned about running 20 psi on pump gas though - just too much risk IMO. But even 1 bar (15 psi) should get you close to 400 whp and will be very safe, maybe just have the 20 psi set as a scramble boost for when those modded Z06's start giving you flak :-).

What's your peak torque? I'm guessing 300 lbs-ft or so...

Chris,
Congrats... I bet w/ some 116 octane that things a beast. You need to bring it back up here so I can ride in it... I'm sure Dwight would love to check it out as well. I'll give you a shot at the Cobra. You'll be posting dynos soon I assume?

Chris, have the self tuning of the AEM EMS play any part?

I have tuned the AEM EMS by myself, yes. And that answers the next question: I am using the AEM EMS for engine managment.

I don't think it will be a problem getting 500rwhp with race gas (seriously) but I think I am approaching the limits of the turbo kit. I am a little disappointed that I am only getting 4xx rwhp on pump gas, and I expect that to be a limitation of the turbo of the turbo it's self. I am pretty confident that if I were running a Vortech supercharger at 20psi that I would be able to make 5xx rwhp with a peaky power curve....

According to my logs the turbo doesn't spool to 1.3 bar until about 5900 rpm, which is also a little disappointing. However the gearing of the car is so small that once you start getting in to boost it shoots to redline in a split second..

I am looking in to fabricating a new turbo system using a larger turbo with Mike Simon. He just got an S2000 and is all excited about the business I have been sending him. He wants to build a streetable monster S2000 now (bastard!)

We have been working pretty closely together ever since my motor build so we should be on the same page with a larger turbo setup.

Maybe I should start a "Anybody interested in a turbo kit?" thread.

My gosh, how did I miss this thread.

Very very impressive!
Even if you didn't realize the full potential with the current set-up, my gosh you should be proud to have one of the fastest and baddest S2000. It's about time!

Argh, I wish I live near you so I can beg for a ride in your car. Hmm, I am trying to imagine what it would feel like to ride in the really truly faaast S2000.

Congrat!
