Default 2001 vs. 2003

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and looking to get my s2000. I've been looking for awhile, and haven't found her yet. But I am coming close, and could use some help. Here is my question. Which s2000 to go after. Both are clean carfax, with a single owner. Details

1) 2001 27,000 miles, yellow, listed for $18,995.
2) 2003 25,000 miles, yellow, with a hard top, 9 months of warranty, and possibility of extended warranty throw in. Listed for $21,900

Both are very nice cars. I'm sure both could be talked down in price some more. The question is, which one? The 2001 is $3,000 less, but no hard top, no warranty and it is a 2001 vs. the 2003.

Thoughts and help appreciated to a newbie.

No brainer.

Get the 03.. the best year S2's imo are the 02-03's due to the changes done from the 00-01's.. will save you alot of TSB headache down the road.

+ you get a hardtop which can be sold for about $2k if you dont want it.

+ you get the warranty.. definitely worth it.

and this is coming from a 01 owner

Definitely a no-brainer. '03 has the rear glass window as well.

I actually agree with this, however, you can probably work a better deal with the older model, and I'm not sure how much of a factor that is for you.

Also, there are some folks who actually prefer the pre-MY02 plastic rear window because it's bigger. Also, the suspension of the pre-02 cars was a little different and some of the original owners really like the slightly more edgy feel of their cars.

In any case, a well-kept-for early S2000 is still a gem!!
