Default 2002 Sebring S2000

Well I have been a guest on here forever and just picked up my S2000 about a week ago. I sold my 2000 B16 Turbo civic for a slower car......ha but it's so much fun. My car has the Espelir Springs, VooDoo Knob and Seat Locks. Looking to get an exhaust soon, but I can't decide what one to get? I was running open downpipe on my civic right off the turbo and that sounded great and had good power gains. Also going to be looking for some wheels soon.

A pic of the new ride...

The old....

Stylin'

Welcome aboard. Great year that 2002... not that I'm biased or anything.

2 things:

1. Check your oil -- now and every fill up. This is a recurring theme on MY00-MY03 F20 engines.

2. Make sure the spark plug recall was done on your car. Or, for that matter, just get a new set from your dealer and put them in at 18lb-ft.

Best wishes.

Ha I just had to go with the glass rear window, plus this 02 had 21k miles. Thanx for the heads up. I use to use nothing but Mobil 1. I may change to Mobil 1 on my next change and use the Honda Filter. (Ive got the right one).

What was the spark plug recall? I have already had the check engine light on for the gas cap. The cap feels cross threaded at times when I put it back on, but I can get over that. Also the drivers side window not rolling down all the way when the top goes down. But neither TSB's are to bad.

That's good about Mobil 1, but my point was that the engine burns oil. You need to check the level every week or so and make sure you're not running low. You can't just wait for the oil change interval, you may be empty by then.

Spark plug... Go to your dealer and ask them to check this or unscrew the coil cover and individual coils and check the torque on your plugs. They should be at 18 lb-ft. This was done as a recall here in the US (see this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=425967)

Ah yeah, I check my oil like it's my job. After having a turbod Honda I've had to. Thanx for the heads up.

Oh ok I see what you mean, I'll go to Hondaand ask them about it. I just hate someone else touching my car, esp at Honda.

Stephen,

Man, that car looks so familiar!

Glad you are still loving the car, I know I miss the hell out of it! I ended up buying a Scion tC, which is NOWHERE near the thrill level of the S, but it has a back seat and is cheap, so it will have to work for me!

I understand about checking the oil on 2002's, but you will soon see that the car doesn't go through it like most, I rarely, if ever, had to add oil to it. The minor TSB's ended up not really being too bothersome to me that's why most are still there.

Good luck with the new ride!

A Scion TC....how could you leave the Honda family lol. Na there pretty nice cars. What color did you get?

Mike, do you know if they sparkplug TSB affected this S2K? Or if was replaced?
I had the check engine light pop on going down Main street and was like OMG.....went to autozone and it was the gas cap thing. Sure enough. That thing can be a pain in the ass to put on correctly. You took very good care of the car. Havent had any oil problems like you have said yet. Seems to hold the oil well so far. Now I just need a nice exhaust and some nice wheels with a good offset.

I never noticed anything with the plugs, so it has never been done. This is the first I have heard of that TSB. That gas cap thing doesn't go off that much, only if it has been weeks since a fillup, where it has time to work it's way back off I suppose. Yours might have been since the car hadn't been filled up in so long(since it was sitting in the garage for all that time and work)

I got a Flint Mica tC, it's not bad for what it is, but it's so hard to go "back" a notch from a car. I keep my Honda blood with my wife's car, the civic. We just put SI rims on it today (ha, a 4 door with the SI rims, looks good though!)

Good luck finding that perfect exhaust, I don't think it exists yet, although the higher(>2K) priced ones are pretty close!

There are some really nice Volk rims in the classifieds right now, some that I would be considering if I still had the car, might want to check them out(I'm sure you already have though)

Good Luck!

Mike
