Default 350z to S2000

Hey Guys,

Just bought a 2002 S2000. Having previously owned a 2006 Base 350z which I traded in to pay for my wifes Lexus, I decided I needed another sports car.

Here's a photo of both.

Nice S2K, I had the same one. I actually ended up selling mine for a G35 coupe cause I needed something with a little more room. I miss my S2K already and when I can afford it I will buy one as my second car.

everyone that goes from an s2000 to 350z usually does so for torque.
you find it bearable that the s2000 has a lot less torque than your Z did?

The S has less torque, but it's so light. The 350 is much heavier.

Yea I went from a 350z to the S and I say its just a more fun car to drive.

Sure at times its annoying that I get passed by sedans if I don't rev it up a ways but I would still say its an upgrade.

The raw nature of it, the fact that its far rarer, way more reliable, and its a drop top is what sold me.

Plus the S2000 community is way way more mature on average than the Z community.

I still love the Z but would never go back to one.

Just to heavy for me

I have to agree with you on all of the statements, don't know about the Z350 maturity on their forums however

In normal everyday driving the torque was nice when passing was needed. I like to row the gears so I don't mind dropping a gear or two to get in the powerband of the S.

The big difference I'm finding is the handling. I went from an IS250 to the 350z and I felt the Z handled great. After having it for a while I noticed the weight. The car would understeer into the corners. It was fun to get sideways though, didn't have LSD.

The S because of the weight and LSD is just much more tight handling. Have to get used to it. It just pulls you in tight around corners.

I had other issues that I didn't like about the Z. The clutch was crap. The engagement point would change daily. And I had an 06 which was burning oil. The interior quality is ok typical Nissan. Which I think is not up to par with Honda.

I don't know about the whole "reliable" part. For maintenance, possibly...but that would depend on the case. The S2000 is a Honda but it certainly isn't a perfect car. As for daily driving though, I would say a 350Z is more suited to a person's needs. Neither of them are really great for a DD, but the 350 at least has traction control, and not to mention WAYYYYY more leg room.

I bought a G35 cause I needed something a little more practical. And yes, it is much heavier than the S and you can definitely tell...but the torque makes the car seem so much faster.
