Default About To Buy 04 S2k

Hello All,
I'm about to decide between an 04 S2k and G35 coupe 6MT for a weekend car purchase. I realize they are 2 different type of cars. From my perspective the g35 would offer more "practicality"with a back seat and more of a luxury ride.. though I feel it handles really well. I'd would welcome your comments. S2K has about 23k miles on it and will cost about 23k as well. I test drove a new 06 the other day to see if I could fit in it (6' tall 215 lbs), which I (barely) do. I do have concerns of comfort for long drives in the s2k. But for short runs, this car does seem to offer alot of excitement.

For me, I'm looking for tremendous handling, fun, and to avoid maintenance annoyance beyond the expected oil changes. (Car Im looking at has 11 months of warranty left on it.)

If I could get some comments on your experience with the s2k, perhaps if anyone also had the g35, and if the $ numbers Im looking at are reasonable for this car. It looks like its in great shape and owner seems straight forward and honest. Any comments would be welcomed.. please respond quickly if possilbe.. might be making my mind up today

thanks

i used to own an '04 6mt g35 coupe and sold it about a year ago.

it had tons of power, but was not as fun to drive. it felt bulky and heavy. the s2000 is tons more fun to drive imo. it is easier to zip around in the s2k than the g35c.

i also found the the g35c seats were not as comfortable. i felt more comfortable driving my g35x around than in the g35c. the seats in the s2k are awesome...feels way better than the g35c.

heres my g35c

Charlie,

As mentioned via PM, best wishes on your choices ahead. G35 coupe is a sweet ride, but it's a compromise. The S is not -- it's raw, it's special, and it puts a smile on your face any time you turn the wheel or put your foot into the go pedal.

Just my opinion, of course.

Why would you want a G35 as a weekend car? Its plebian compared to the S when it comes to weekend rides. If you think the S is too small, I'd look at other good "weekend" cars like the Boxster or a vette, but not a G35 - its a commuter car, not a weekend car.

a good friend has a g35 coupe with all the bells and whistles. it's really nice and *totally* different from my s2k. it's big, spacious, luxurious, v6-powered, more practical, quiet ride, etc...

my s2k is kinda cramped, not luxurious, no v6, not practical, and loud. i wouldn't have it any other way.

you have to drive both and see what you like.
