About to FINALLY be an S2K owner?!
Hello,
I have been an enthusiast for years and am FINALLY able to buy and S2K. After much toiling over AP1 vs AP2, mileage, color, etc... I might have found the one that is best for me at this time. It is an '03 with ~108K miles. Before I pull the trigger, what repair/ maintenance items should I be concerned about? Any advice is much appreciated before I blow thousands of $$$.
Thanks!
Ali

Check out the sticky on the s2000 talk about what to look for when buying an S2000. If I had any computer skills I would post a linnk here...lol. I have an AP2 so I'm just regurgitating what I've read so maybe someone can chime in and help.
2003 is the last year of the AP1 so many of the problems were sorted out like the oil banjo bolt and the transmission grinding into second gear because of syncro issues.
I read that the AP1's are prone to burn a little oil so keep an eye on it. The differential fluid needs changed more often than most cars at 30k mile intervals and the AP1 diffs aren't the strongest so don't launch like a maniac. At 108k miles the clutch has either been replaced once or will likely need to be before too long. Maybe have a mechanic you trust check it out first. These are reliable cars overall.
You could post a link to the car's ad if you would like any opinions from some of the experts on here.

I had a third party evaluation done and they said the clutch needs to be replaced and the pads/ rotors. The dealer couldn't/ wouldn't meet me halfway on that cost, so I walked and I'm shopping again...
