Well, I really wanted to get an S2000 and almost bought one. After contemplating for a couple of weeks and crunching the financial numbers I decided that I could not realisticly afford to have an S2000 & a winter car. I went with a used Acura RSX Type-S instead. I know i don't get the luxury of drop-top but the RSX is still a nice car and more realistic for me in terms of seats, space and all season driveability.

 

Still a good choice. I'd take an RSX-S.

I got it in black... which is kind of funny because the S2000 I almost bought was black as well... and black's not my favorite car color... I'll have some pics up soon. I took some yesterday but the sun didn't agree with me and caused some nasty reflections and made the pics look extremely bright. I really like the car so far, it's a huge step up from my 2004 Chevy Cavalier that was Automatic and had power nothing. I was surprised at how excited I was to just have power locks and windows. Adding the fact that i've got a sun roof and it being my first manual so i've been having a lot of fun with it so far.

but why did you get an rsx versus a civic si?

 

I didn't want to buy brand new for one, second, I like the SI and all but I just like the Type-S better... I like the styling and interior more than the SI. I know they're basically the same car, and yes I could have spent $3,000 more and got a brand new SI but I had to draw the line somewhere... I wanted to spend $15,000, ended up spending $17,995 because of the deal I got on this Type-S (an 04' with 23,000 miles, other dealers were asking $20,900 for the same exact year/mileage), and to go ahead and add $3,000 more would kinda defeat the purpose as I could have just ended up getting an S2000 + a winter car for $21,000... And with my age, my insurances would hurt even more than the payments (i'm 20 and going to be paying close to $266 per month for the Type-S, I was quoted $300 per month for the S2000). All in all i'm very happy with the RSX thus far. I'll feel even better when I sell my old car... (decided not to trade, selling privately).

 

A very nice choice. If you're uncomfortable with the idea of driving the S daily through the winter, and you can't afford a second car, then I think you made a wise choice. OTOH, there are a bunch of folks who are hardcore and drive the S through the muck and the mire.

Anyway, best wishes with the RSX. I think it's a sharp coupe.
