Default Another New Owner, in San Diego

I am a new owner of a 2004 silver/black S2000, and enthusiastic. An ex-autocrosser with a 1967 Porsche 912, I lost the rear end (but caught it) on my first ride with my new S2K chasing a friend's new Porsche 911 4S through a 60 mph curve, attributable to the awful tires that came with the car, Sumitomo HTR Z11's. I've ordered Dunlop Direzza Z11's that should get me on track. The car is at a body shop refinishing the front bumper to eliminate all the license plate holes. I had an extensive inspection by the Honda dealer and will replace the brake fluid and front pads, but not resurface the rotors as they recommend after a bad experience doing that with a '99 Camaro Z28 that led to warping and rotor replacement. To be conservative, will also do O & F, renew coolant, and discuss with Honda adviser what else they recommend. I wish I had checked out this car when it was in production.

It is fantastic to drive; the sound is the best; and when VTEC kicks in at 6k, I'm in heaven. The model must have been a loss leader for Honda with all the leather, no compromise suspension, exhaust, and more. The Youtube videos of this car racing at Spa, Nurburgring are inspiring.

Welcome to San Diego!

Check out Infinite Motion in San Marcos. Great s2k shop. I'd say more trustworthy than your Honda dealer as the guys have s2k's and have worked on numerous S2k's. I had my initial inspection done there and plan on having all type of major overhauls completed at their shop as well.

We have a pretty large meet coming up on July 20th if you can make it. A cruise up to Azusa then to Huntington Beach. We're getting a pretty good sized San Diego crew to make the trip. It'd be great to get you and some of the other new SD people along for the ride.

If you have facebook, s2k san diego page has some meets and other news!

Thank you very much for telling me about Infinite Motion. I'll phone them. The timing is perfect since I haven't done anything yet except the body work and ordering tires.

I'm even having trouble navigating these messages, but will tackle Facebook about the other SD stuff. If you wouldn't mind, in case I can't find the info, where and at what time does the July 20 tour take off from SD?

Thanks much for the links for the new owner and the maintc schedule. HockeyIfell (these usernames!)gave me a nearby dependable specialist with whom I now have an appt for next Tues, armed with these lists.

Definitely print off that check sheet or at least look it over. It's good to know what should be done. It's very helpful. That's exactly what I used. Valve adjustment & all fluids changed (mentioned in his signature above ^). But yes, that shop will make sure you're taken care of.

Welcome!
I'm also a new owner (June) and the list was very helpful for me as I had no records for the car. Wasn't sure at first what I had until having my mechanic address the list and he said she's a good one.
I was relieved..so of course the next thing I did was carve up 300 mi of canyons!
