Back In Business
I used to lurk on these forums under the user name "GameDev" starting back in 2001 when I bought my S2000. In 2003, I lost my job and had to sell my car (sad, sad times). Luckily, I talked my dad into "holding onto" the car for me (buying it from me), though I never really tried to get it back from him (partly because I knew how much he liked it) even though I was re-employed not too long after I had to get rid of it. Recently, he asked if I was interested in getting it back, so now I'm driving my baby again.
It didn't fare perfectly while it was with my dad. It was sitting exposed in the Arizona sun for a long time, so the leather seats are cracked and the convertible top had to be replaced, but all in all it is in pretty good shape. Only 75k miles, which is pretty damn good for a car that's over 13 years old. It feels great to drive it again.
Lately I've been thinking about how I'm going to both bring it back to its former glory and make it last for another 13 years, so I've started looking into all the stuff I will need to do. Some of them are little things like replacing the crappy knockoff badges I had on it with genuine Honda versions (I've seen that putting the red Honda badges on S2000s is controversial on the forums, but I love it with my GPW exterior and red interior). Another is trying to figure out what to do about those cracked seats. I've also been thinking about upgrading it for autocross, keeping it in the garage, and buying a cheap commuter to get to work (or just riding my bicycle every day). All the searches on the internet about these topics kept bringing me back to S2KI, so I figured it was about time to re-register.
So, there's me re-introduction. Glad to be back.
