Hi everyone -

I haven't been spending much time on s2ki for a long while (when I went from having a "real" job and getting paid to post to being a consultant where I only earn $$ when I actually work).

Anyway .... I just had a very tragic experience. I was on the freeway Saturday in stop and go traffic, stopped. I happened to look in my rearview mirror and saw a black SUV barreling towards me. Yep ... she slammed into the back of my baby, plowing me underneath the back of a pickup truck. Airbags deployed, car is a disaster.

Luckily, as with so many s2k crashes, the passenger compartment was completely intact and neither my husband or I were hurt. I got one small scratch from the seatbelt and bruised knuckles. I totally appreciate how well this car is made for safety.

Needless to say, after I got done bawling my eyes out as they extracted my S from underneath that truck, I realized it's undoubtedly totaled so I'm in the market for a new S.

I'll be hanging out here trying to get up to speed on everything that's changed since I bought my MY02 over 4-1/2 years ago. I was originally thinking "I really want the 9k redline, so I'm just going to find a low-mileage AP1," but I stopped by a dealer yesterday and the new ones do have some nice little extras.

To anyone who's owned both -- what are your impressions of the driving experience when comparing an AP1 to an AP2?

Kathy (s2k-less and very sad)

I am really glad you and your husband are ok. Sorry to see you lose your S. I don't have any advice with regards to AP1/AP2.

Sounds like a great opportunity to test drive 03 and 04 S2000s! They are really different in some ways, yt are the same car. Best thing to do i drive them back to back to back.

What's up Kathy? Long time. PM Pierceman, he has some smokin deals. Not like when we bought ours from the east coast years back.

Hey Red!

Yeah, it's sure changed since then. There are a lot of S's sitting on dealers' lots all over SoCal. I'll probably pay less for this one than I did my '02 in '03 (and that was a smokin' deal at $29k).
