Default buying high mileage s2k

I am thinking of buying an s2k that has about 75000 miles on it. Any suggestions or opinions on this? how does the S do as far as mileage? I know that i will be doing a bunch of bolt on mods and also gears and a vafc, and FI is also a possibility. should I just get one with lower miles?

75k isn't high miles for a honda lol

year, mileage, condition determine price, so if you find one with 75k on the clock the condition is nice, and the price is right, then why not.

I got mine with about 71k

what is the recommended miles for timing chain service? is it reuseable or it's like the rubber belt that needs to be replace?

In my (European) manual there is no service interval for the timing-chain.
So I guess it is supposed to stay in.. for ever!

When buying second hand you need to remember two words:
Service History.

Good luck with your search

^^^I agree with the service history statement, hence why whenever my car get anything done I make sure to file it just in case I want to sell it one day....

I bought mine with 79k on the clock. 8K later, I beat the hell out of it on a regular basis and still get good MPG, and have had no problems.

I paid more than I should have, but it was worth every penny.

I would make sure to get a compression test as part of checking out the car. It'll at least give you some idea if the car was overrevved at some point during its life. When you get the car, keep a close eye on the oil level. Pre-04 models have an appetite for oil.

And, I agree, change all the fluids and check the torque on your plugs. There's a fabulous thread on oils for the car in the under-the-hood forum (it's called Oil Journals).

Best wishes. I would have no fear of high miles in an S!

Honda/Acura's last forever if you stay on top of the maintanence, esp. oil and timing belts....believe me I should know. I currently own three hondas, '89 CRX w/ 200k, '94 Civic Hatch w/ 247k, and a '00 s2000 w/ 40k miles.
