Default Buying an S... Could use a Carfax report

Hi all,

I am a recent college graduate that has finally put together enough spare change to get an AP1.

I drove some other cars but found the S2000 to be more fun than any of them. A convertible, price, and reliability were my main criteria. Moving to North Carolina from Northern Ohio I can see myself driving around in December with the top down.

Right now I have a nearly stock 97 Civic DX, which will still be my daily driver. So an S2K will be double the power that I am used to and RWD. Obviously, I'm sold on Honda's reliability

I found an 02 suzuka blue with 53,000 miles for sale on a used car lot. I was told it was traded in for a new Mercedes at the dealer down the street. I have negotiated a fair price for it and am willing to buy provided they have Honda program a new keyless entry fob (the other one was lost), R\reset the stereo password (or I read how to do that on S2KI), and it has a clean Carfax report.

I read that a few people here had the ability to get Carfax reports. I was hoping maybe I could get the hookup on one for VIN# JHWAP11422T005398

I'm impressed with the forum. A lot of good info.

sounds like you know what youre doing, lol. good choice of color!!

as far as the carfax goes, somebody on here could probably help you. i dont currently have an account with car fax, or i would. have you asked the dealership to get one for you? also, with the radio, its not that hard to do. sometimes there's a white sticker with black letters in the glove box, or the secret compartment. if that doesnt work, you'll have to pull the radio (really simple), and get the SN# of the back. give that and the VIN to a honda dealer, and they should be able to get it for you.

thanks!

Thanks for the autocheck.

Hmm a fleet car. I don't know if that is good or bad. I wish my company had S2000's for fleet cars.

I only had the hand written demonstration permit to go off of, which says jhWap. Seems these people are a little behind the times on technology. The don't have a website or even an internet ad such as cars.com or autotrader. They had a limited Carfax report but it only said it had a clean title and no accidents. It was printed really lightly and off centered a bit which made me a little suspicious.

But why wouldn't I trust a used car dealer, they're good honest people, right?

Would Carfax disclose Honda maintenance records (other than passing inspections)?

I offered $13,500 and they didn't bite so I walked away from this one. Probably would've paid 14. It was hard to do but I think it was the right choice.

Wow dude IMHO, $18K for 24K miles is kinda high. I got an MY05 with 17K miles for $20.5K in perfect condition.

Yeah I say a decent deal with MY02 with 30K miles should about around 15K or less.

Just my 2 cents

Yeah, I don't mind paying more. I just would like one thats right and not going to give me problems later.

And I agree 18K is a little high from what I'm seeing, but depends on how long ago you bought
