Buying a used s2000? What to look out for.
Hello, my name is Tim. I currently am looking into purchasing an AP2 s2000. I test drove one a few hours ago, due to fact a dealership near me just got it. I loved driving every second of it, so I might be a potential owner soon.
But before the cash starts flowing, I just have a few questions for you s2000 owners.
1) What should I look for like flaws in the s2000? For Example in my Acura RSX I looked for any signs of water in the trunk. big problem with them.
2) How to tell if the top is in good condition and won't leak water in? (never owned a convertible)
3) I know most 96+ honda has vin stickers on the major body parts, does the s2000 have a vin sticker on all body parts. (Just asking because the manager said some don't have it all the body parts) Its cause i pointed out passenger fender and door are missing vin stickers due to the car being in an accident.
4) Is 16K a good price for a 2005 with 99,xxx
5) List common past problems/present problems/reoccurring problems.

There's lots of threads covering your questions, the search bar and Google are pretty helpful. As for the price, that's not enough information to give an accurate answer.
This would probably a little harder to find so here's the VIN locations.

Welcome, Tim!
You came to the right place as there's a wealth of knowledge here. A good place to start would be the What to look for when buying a used S2000 thread.

I think '06 gets you stability control, something I looked for earlier in the summer. 100,000 is a lot of miles here on the North Coast. My '06 still has under 40K -- bought it 3 July in Columbus. If you're in 12-month climate the number ain't bad. An '05 can be 10 years old depending on the build date.
I wanted a stock car. Other than some "racing" wheels I found one.
