Default Buying within the next week

My name is Eric and I'm planning on purchasing a S2000 within the next week or two. I have found two MY01's that I have been considering. Both have a few flaws that bother me, both are asking 12,900 for the cars.

MY01 silver w/red interior:
67,000 miles
clean title no accidents (checked car fax)
great color combo
all trunk peices and spare tire are there
ran diagnostic tool no codes, running at proper temp etc.
-has aftermarket clutch that isn't prpperly adjusted
-door to access trunk button is broken at hinge
-driver side top latch broken
-previous owner installed three analog gages into dash; oil pressure gague doesn't work at all, water temp gague reads between 210 and 250 (can't be correct, and volt meter works
-has apexi N1 single exit exhaust (excruciatingly loud with top down)

MY01 red black interior:
92,000 miles
clean car
-missing top of oem air box
-missing jack, spare tire, and trunk lining
-aftermarket stereo
-seats replaced with red sparco seats that don't sit as well as OEM
-much quieter aftermarket exhaust
-wheels have oxidation

Just looking for some advice.
I greatly appreciate your help.
-Eric

go with the first one and swap exhausts for an oem one or buy a new on. buy a new top latch which isnt that much... and the latch on the door isnt much at all either.... then take it to a shop and get them to adjust the clutch and let you know what kind of condition it is in. 30.000 miles less than the other one, thats two years of driving!

Thats kindof what I was thinking. The clutch feels like the centerforce dual friction that I put into a 280zx i had. It feels like it needs bleeding and adjusting, at worst a slave cylender which shouldn't be too much. I took it by the Audi dealer that one of my buddies works at and ran a full diagnostic on it just to check for anything that would cause problems or has been a problem. It was running 90 degrees celcuis right where the op temp should be but the gague wasn't reading correct (just annoying as hell). On a positive note there were no rips or tears in the top at all.

On the first one, I would ask the owner if the oil gauge had ever been hooked up. Most of the oil pressure sender kits to replace the stock oil light sender were designed for a taipered tap. The s2k does not have a taipered tap and the wrong sender kit will eventually crack the bung causing a very very expensive repair.

Search in the Under the Hood forums...there are some graphic pics of the results.

I'm going to get my buddy, who is an audi tech and lives right by the used car dealer to check on the stuff about the gague. How difficult would it be to fix if it hasn't become a problem yet? Also, what would the likelyhood of finding a silencer for the Apexi exhaust be and what effect would it have?
