Default comparison questions

hello to everyone, i have been reading on this site for years, but only just registered as it is now time for a new car.....

so here is the question, sorry in advance if a ramble, and yes i have read and searched, and never really found an answer.... so for the last ten years i have driven and loved a 1993 honda del sol s, yes it is the slow one which never really bothered me since i loved the handling, and the balance of the car, it was not until i seized the engine and had to replace it with a b16, because that is all i could find at the time, that i discoverd the joys of vtec, since that time i have absoluty loved the car, the size of it, the power the engine has and yes the go cart like handling. i am a car enthusiast, but i do not have the money to own and drive all the cars i love, so i always weigh all my options before i finally decide, yes it is time for a new car, unfortunitly the rust is winning. i have looked at many cars, and always the s2k is in my top 2 choices, my wife drives an imprezza, and yes the awd is great for the winter months, and i have been trying to decide between a wrx or an s2k, but the imprezza is not half as fun to toss around as my del sol is. i love to take spirited drives in the country, and to push my car to the limits as much as possible, i ahve done track days, and autocrosses, but to me theres nothing better then empty country roads, and a precise handling car.....

so the question, have any of you come from a del sol to an s2k, and other the the obvious differences, like cloth top, extra power, rwd, has there been anything that has made you miss the del sol, or anything that makes the swicth for the better?
i know these questions have been asked of many other kinds of cars, but have never really seen a comparison of the del sol to the s2k.....
thanks in advance

Well ive owned a 95 honda del sol, slightly modded, and ive driven both the ap1 and ap2.

To say that there is no comparison, would be an understatement. The s2k is leaps and bounds above the del sol in terms of looks, performance, and every other category, except maybe affordability. Honda really went all out with this car, and you won't even think about the del "slow" after a test drive.

At first I thought it was just another upgrade, the next generation "del sol", but its a totally different car, with improvements in every category. I stand behind these words 110%.

Other than the evolution of the VTEC technology, I would agree that you'll find little in common with a Del Sol. I think the S shares a few more chromosomes with the Prelude. Oh, for that matter, the head designer was the same guy that did the NSX, though I won't really compare the two, since the NSX is really more of an exotic.

Oh, no way. There's a TON of folks around here who have Preludes in their past. It wasn't that long ago that the Lude was the flagship of the Honda line.

I was referring more to how the car feels more like a Prelude than other Hondas hehe.

But ya, I owned a BB6 Prelude as well. That car really got me hooked on to the Honda Bug

The thing about the S2000 is that it really got rid of a lot of things that I complained about the Prelude, including mechanical stuff (like RWD, 6-spd, etc) and small details in the interior (like how there is more clearance under the steering wheel, etc).
