Dealers Won't Lease '08's?
I've been looking for an '06-'07 with little success. Mileage was one of my hangups. I thought, well why don't I see if I can lease a new 2008 with virtually no mileage and then just buy it at the end of the lease? Wouldn't have to worry about whether the car was tracked, beaten, damaged, etc.
I called two places so far and one of them, Babylon Honda, would lease it to me for something like $600/mo (36mo 10k/yr) or would require 7k down to hit my target payment. I was appalled. Unbelievable. The car is already marked down to 29k! I called another place in upstate NY and he told me Honda won't even let them lease any '08's at all. How are they supposed to move units like this, esp in this economy? There are still new '07's up in Mass for crying out loud. They have to be losing more money just floorplanning these things for months, even years, than if they would just let the things go for what people are offering.
GRR.

Some banks will do a "psuedo" lease deal. United Teletech has a leasing type of deal you may want to check into, I also think TD bank may do it.
A lot of financing places have pulled leasing because they can't get the difference back on resale. The idea is for you to pay depreciation + interest when you lease, then they sale the car for the difference... Well, they can't get enough on resale to make it worth it right now.
