Deposited an S2000, awaiting delivery - tips needed!
hey everybody! hope i'm given a warm welcome to this thriving S2000 community
. i'll try not to write too much here and bore you all but here's the low down...
my name's lewis, i'm from england and i'm 21 years of age. now that i can afford it (£445/year tax and £2000/year insurance, pretty steep!) i have finally put a deposit down on a dream car of mine. it's gonna set me back a fair bit of money being a young driver and all, but i've always loved the S2000 for the pure car it is and have always desired to be the proud owner of one - now i'm in a good job earning good money i can finally afford to run one!
it's a July 2006 AP2 model in black with the black/red interior - what i believe is a striking colour combination - and only 23300 miles on the clock! total price payable is £9995 (bargain?!), although for now i've put down a £500 holding deposit whilst i get rid of my current car and swap my private reg. over to the S2000 (as it's going to cover most of the payment), a 2010 '10-plate Ford Fiesta Zetec S TDCi (anyone interested while we're here?!). needless to say i am really, really looking forward a couple of weeks' time when i pay for the car, take away the keys and can actually say i've got the car in my possession - photo's will be uploaded, for sure!
lastly but most importantly - what are the areas of the car i should give a good look-over before i start using the vehicle, i.e. are there any areas where the S2000 needs thorough maintenance? (apart from the obvious ones like tyre wear/pressure, oil, coolant level etc. that is!)
thanks to everybody for your time and i really look forward to hearing back from someone(s)

I was going to say check throttle cable play but I think your's won't have one. Clean or replace the PCV valve. Change the oil and stick with OEM filters. Check/clean battery connections.
Enjoy the car. I have the black/red interior as well and still like it. The mats are starting to show their age though.

to you toooh mate, a totally different world! im used to low-power, FWD cars.. now that im getting a high power RWD, ill need to get used to it! my dads worked in the car industry all of his life, ive always liked them and i know a fair amount, so dont worry, i wont be wrapping it around a lamp post anytime soon, im wiser than your average idiot on the road!
i fully understand that a car like this needs to be driven with care, respect and patience! no VTEC'ing hard on the exit of a corner or ill be saying hi to the bushes, barrier or lamp post before i know it!
