Does this sound sketchy to you guys?
Ok, so Ive been on the lookout for an s2k for a month of so now, and nothing has come my way. I live in Jersey, and there arent many worth-while s2000 here. They are either insanely priced, or terrible condition.
I found this LBP s2000 on autotrader about 5 days ago. Its a 2006, with 29,000 miles on it. The asking price is 12,900. I know, crazy. So, I email the seller, and ask for more information. There is only one picture of the car and its only of the front. I asked for more pictures, information, why the price is so low, etc. I get an email today and this is what it reads:
Hi,
This is a charity sale, I will donate the money to a children
foundation so the deal will be concluded through eBay since they
organise a lot of activity for this purpose. Right now I'm in a
business trip and I can't meet you to show you the car, but I can send
you more pictures and details. I hope that is fine for you. I can ship
the car on my expense to your location. If you want to buy the car,
send me your full name and delivery address and eBay company will
contact you with all the details regarding this transaction ( the
invoice and payment details ). If you agree with my price and my terms
I am ready to reserve the car for you.
The car has clean title and is not under leasing or bank
liabilities. The condition of this car is incredible and well
maintained. The paint is in perfect shape. There are no dings,
scratches, damage on the body or rust. This vehicle never been
involved in any accident or damages, kept both smoke free.
I am waiting for your email.
Thank you,
Dave
Does this sound really sketchy and too good to be true? Or, do you guys think its legit? It ISNT through ebay, so I have no idea why ebay will take care of the transaction. Has anybody heard of this before? I live about an hour from the location. Oh, and its a private seller. I emailed him back asking for a carfax, more pictures, why its for charity, etc.
Oh, and I hope nobody steals this find, lol.

That sounds way to good to be true..., Can't meet you, only send pictures, talking about shipping the vehicle out (at his cost)..., and the price is pretty low. I would be asking for the VIN number and do a carfax search.
Lol, well i just wanted to run it by the forum in case this was presented to someone or something. Im about 80% sure its fake, but theres always that doubt that it can be true lol.
On the autotrader page, there a link for a free carfax report, but it only gives you how many records there are, vin #, vehicle make. This seemed a bit odd: it shows that there are 4 records in their database. Kinda odd for an 06, right?

4 entries is OK one is the first sale and it can have entries for change of address or anything. I would ask the seller to provide you with the carfax report or get one yourself (they arn't that expsive). They are not always complete (couple of month out) but better than guessing.
I still think it is a SCAM.
