Thanks for the kind words everyone, the Evo is very fun! It is a 2556# car (thanks to a lot of expensive lightweight parts and custom fabrication) that makes over 400 whp on a VERY low reading mustang dyno, combined with my ninja shifting, runs very well.

As for my s2000, I have found 3 things I must address so far:
  1. engine tick noise sometimes, when first started, then almost immediately goes away (chain tensioner maybe?)
  2. rear passenger clunk noise over small bumps (strut?)
  3. found some water under the tools in the trunk (i think leaky patch in my top)

For the water in the trunk, I will just get a hose, put water around the top, and see where it's coming in. I have a few tears that were patched with some tape for patches, but it may be leaking some.

As for the ticking noise and the clunks, are there any tell-tale signs for either that I should look for? I know the engine isn't hurt, because it revs to 9,000 rpm without any noise, but for the first 2 - 5 seconds (sometimes a tad longer), there is a rattle-tick noise from up front. I hear that the chain tensioners fail, is this the noise they start to make?

Thanks everyone,

-Mark

Update to the above post, I just ordered a modified TCT from billman250, so that should solve number 1 above. Now for my passenger rear clunk. Any ideas there?

the water in the trunk is most likely caused by the vent behind the rear bumper.

remove rear bumper, and silicone up that vent.

You won't regret getting an s2k, nothing like cruising top down with vtec buzzing in your ear and wind flapping your ears in the wind.

more pics of the evo please
