From an E92 M3 to my first S2K.
I'm in a similar situation, I have a 335D M sport package, and while it's a great car, it's no M3, and it's definitely no S2000. I took it to a few autocrosses, and it did well, but I felt the heft was a bit much. I'm in the process of getting an inexpensive S2000 so I can use it as my track rat.
Get a quality FSB, a lwfw, remove the clutch delay valve, good pads (carbotech or winmax w5+), good fluid (I run torque, this car loves to cook clutch fluid), change your front rotors every 3 events (30-50 a rotor), and get used to changing your trany fluid and diff fluid every 4k. I do mine every 1600-2000. heavy abuse = heavy maint.
Welcome to the club. Its not bad, got rid of my spicy euro as well. Honestly I miss the power at times, but the cost of consumables for this car is a joke. Rotors, 40, the trany oil from the dealer is 14 dollars, oem size dirreza zs's are 650, and the reliability makes tracking a breeze. Plus passing cars with twice the power is always nice.
