Default Finally - got a 2005 S2000, berlina black (pic)

My first choice was a grand prix white, but they were so hard to find! Next choice was black - which was also hard to find - seems every S2000 for sale is silverstone or suzuka blue!

Anyways, I believe I got a killer deal - 2005 S2000 with 27k miles for, $18700. Clean title, 1 owner, no accidents reported by carfax.

Only issue I noticed was the the front bumper on the driver's side is a bit misaligned - looked like the previous owner bumped something and pushed the clips off alignment - so there's a slightly wider gap below the headlight and bumper area now. Hardly noticeable though, but it's still something I'd like to fix. Any tips/advice? Can I just crawl under there and straighten out the clips with pliers?

Other than that, the car is flawless, has a perfect top and interior, and she drives amazingly well. A month or two ago, I drove a 2000 s2000 at a lesser dealer (one of those dirt lot on the corner places), and the car had mismatched tires, and it drove pretty uninspiringly.

I've read about S2000s having numb steering - and indeed, the feedback is nil (I've been spoiled by the 91 nsx), but the feel of the vibrations and road coming through the wheel and chassis are excellent - much better than the Z06 from what I can tell so far. I'm about to take a cruise down to Monterey (can't wait for my gf to get home so we can leave!), so I'll snap a few more pics and follow up.

One other thing I noticed: Now I understand why S2000 seats are stolen so often. They are excellent! They hug me tightly, are very comfortable, but at the same time, stay firm enough to not dampen and absorb the messages of the road coming through the chassis . The Z06 seats are incredibly comfortable, but in a la-z-boy way - supple, plush leather seats, but hit a bump, and you'll bounce in the seat for a good second afterwards as the springiness of the seat absorts everything.

The power is of course, in a whole different lesser league than the LS6 of the Z06, but I don't mind that so much. The car feels like one tight unit, with the steering, braking, and acceleration all meshing together into harmoy - truly a balanced car. The interior is snug, put together without a rattle or creak, and just oozes quality. Getting back in the C5 Z06, I felt the interior was cheaper (I never understood that until now), and just bigger and clumsier all around. What an epiphany! I was never an interior guy, as it was the last thing I looked at in a car - but this S2000's interior is definitely one of my favorite features. I just want to sit in it all day. There isn't a single scratch, scuff, or any of that sort in it, and i just love how the seats and doorsills look. I just wish the audio-mode button on the dash doubled as a volume knob..

I also love how quickly and effortlessly the top goes down. In the MR-S, I had to manhandle the top and slam it down into its base, or else it would not latch correctly.

One thing I will miss, however, is the heads-up display that the Z06 transposes over the road in front of you (pic). Having gas/oil psi, mph, and rpm hovering in front if your face is awesome, and at times I would turn off all the lights on the dashboard at night to cruise to absolute blackness. My girlfriend called it batmobile mode. I wonder if there are aftermarket mods to give the S2000 a HUD display?

Anyways, I'm rambling. Without ado, here is the one pic I have so far. I'll follow up with updates later tonight after my trip to Monterey if anyone cares

Oh nice! I've been looking for a GPW or Silverstone. What made you go for black? Was it the price? I cant find a decent GPW or Silverstone here in Houston, but I found 2 Black MY05's with about 30k mi on them.

$18,700 is a awesome deal! Congrats!

BTW sweet pic!

Thanks, afdude!

GPW does look the best imo, but I went for a black because I loved how it looked on the S2000 - the black top blends into the body and doesn't make the soft-top so obvious..

After having 2 black cars, I swore I'd never buy another again.. but I guess this one just squeezed by. And yeah, the price helped.

If you don't mind buying in CA, there are tons of silverstones around. This one is a better deal than mine - silverstone too: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/902525191.html

Can't wait to go drive the car again, darn g/f is taking her time! Perhaps she won't mind if I leave for Monterey without her... j/k

Well I found a dealer here in Houston that has 4 MY05's total. They are all advertised on autotrader.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresult...sownerid=625641

They are a Silver 30kmi asking 18,980, 2 Blacks with 28kmi and 30kmi asking 19,780, and a Red with 18kmi asking 22,780...

Here's the loophole I just found a few minutes ago. They are on Ebay too! and cheap! Their buy now prices for these cars are 17,800 for the Silver, 18,700 for the 2 Blacks, and 21,700 for the Red.

That's a bargain. I'm going over there tomorrow to check them out.

Enjoy the drive. That pic you have up there is really making me consider the Black. It looks nice.

On a side note, I only wanted the MY06 or MY07 because of the traction control and the temp gauge.. haha. It's not much, but I'm seriously doubting why I was wanting to pay a ton extra for those amenites that probably dont do much for this car..

Again congrats. I'm jealous.

Well, snapped some pics, but I was too eager to get back in the car and drive, so they didn't turn out nearly as well as I had hoped!

Nice ride, grats. Now you can change your profile status from "Enthusiast" to "Owner" Have fun, and keep the rubber side down.

damn, these cars have been getting substantially cheaper in the past few months. i picked up my certified 04 with 30k miles for 18k after haggling the dealership from their asking price of 19k and thought i did well.

btw, beautiful car! take care of her.
