Finally a member of the club
Graduated from medical school this May and had to buy myself a present. I searched the internet crazy for 8 months looking for a 2 seater, manual gearbox sports car (everything from 350z, 240sx, rx-7, 300zx, is300, C5 vettes, stangs, even evo/sti's) for the 15-20k range and ended up opting for an S2K as the proven driver's car. Picked up my baby from Cleveland, OH (I'm from Long Island)... took the train out there, checked out the car and drove her back to NY the same day. 8 hour drive with no speeding tickets so it was a great first road trip in her. Car was a one owner, no accident car with only 33k miles. Purchased her up from Paul (TryPsi41) who's a great guy.
Mods Car Came With:
Work Meister S1 Wheels 17x8.5,9.5R with BF Goodrich G-force1 tires (sex)
Espiller springs
OEM front lip
ACT stage 2 clutch (which was changed in anticipation of going forced induction)
AEM V2 intake
Buddy Club Pro Spec Dual Exhaust (sounds amazing)
Stereo (Alpine head unit, 10" trunk floor mounted sub, amp, and upgraded components in front doors)
Things I've done in the month I've had her:
-Washed her a zillion times lol
-Claybar and Wax a few days ago
-Modifry elastic roof straps
-Had the two weak spots in the top reinforced by a local upholstery shop. They took some top material and glued two patches to the traditional weak spots over the drvier's left shoulder and the passenger's right shoulder. They glued it all on with liquid rubber windshield glue... (This was all done when I noticed a small 3/8" rip developing on the passenger side of the top). This measure seems to be holding quite well for now even with a lot of use including on some hot ass days.
- Learn how to drive her
Thoughts:
What a brilliant, precise, pure, no-compromise, no bullshit sports car. The chassis is incredible and the car communicates everything back to the driver in such a quick and perfect fashion. The 6 speed manual transmission is butter, the throws are sharp like clockwork and the tranny is geared perfectly for the engine and its power band. And I also now love round-abouts rather than despising them. Anddd Theres no feeling like top down cruising on a nice night.... What an awesome car.
Future Plans:
Short term...
Coilovers (thinking KW Variant 3, I want the low and high speed compression settings)
Upgrade all suspension bushings to urethane
J's racing drivetrain spacer
Upgraded Sway Bars
Stainless steel brake lines
Within one year...
Built block (either Jeff Evans or Laskey)
Ptuning turbo kit
+/- E85... I'm gonna look into that more once I round up the cash for the engine work
Upgraded diff, LSD, tranny, axles to support power
Hardtop
APR full carbon fiber underbody, to keep all those expensive parts lookin fresh lol
My goal is a well built and solidly tuned street machine that will put down a reliable 450-550 whp, with chassis, drivetrain, suspension and brake modifications to match. But like the title says I'm just glad to be a member of the club. All the best - Anish
