After growing up loving these cars I finally went and bought a 2005. The car had one owner from Virginia (sold in Atlanta). Had it shipped up to the Northeast for my first manual. It's got 120k miles and seems to have been garaged. So far I had all the fluids changed, plugs, and had a new set of Conti ECS02 installed. Super excited to get more comfortable driving it (properly) and becoming part of the community!
The S2000 handles a bit differently from your typical FWD car so sneak into a church parking lot some rainy evening and get a feel for how the rear end acts with a slight loss in traction. Probably won't do a thing but it's better to get a feel there than in a roundabout you took a bit too fast. Note our cars are tire sensitive. You've taken a good first step with brand-matched tires. Match the tire pressures as well. Mine runs well at "door jam" pressure but don't be afraid to try a coupe pounds less.
Years ago guys here told me to shift up at 4300 rpm or higher (yep that exact) for smooth shifts. I thought they were just pranking the "new guy" but it works.

Love the color BTW.
