Default First 2 day experiences of S2k ownership

I finally succumbed to the exuberance and dedication, not to mention many humorous discussions that I have enjoyed reading on this site. Last week I purchased a silver 2004 sc s2k from a very close friend. The first day as I was driving to a meeting in the fast lane at an acceptable speed between 70 and 75 mph this this guy in a brand new four door BMW apparantly thinks it is funny to drive behind me at a distance of less than 2 feet. Naturally, being the considerate and mild mannered individual that I am, I elected to change into the middle lane to let the BMW driver pass. However, even before I am safely able to complete the lane change, the BMW driver guns his engine. Well, since I had the top down and could barely hear the ACDC tunes playing on the stock autio system, I thought it might be time to see how my little modified s2k would perform against the ultimate driving machine. After focusing on ensuring the safety of the vehicles ahead of me, not to menton the superb accelleration of rocket performance of the s2k, I was finally able to observe the car's digital display which indicated a speed of 139 mph with more speed available in my humble opinion. Of course I quickly slowed down since the driver of the BMW must have got lost in the forest or something. Also interesting was the fact that the BMW was unable to even pull ahead during this little freeway "negotiation." Way fun experience. I do not know the model of the BMW but it apearred to be one of the larger sedans. Second day, I received a photo speeding ticket for exceeding a 40 mph limit by 9 mph. I hate those parked vehicles that prey on all of us. Oh well, another day at traffic school seems to have taken priority over a good portion of next weekend. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to every s2k owner who has taken time to help others and provide one of the more interesting sites on the net. I look forward to discussing a couple of issues with many of you all regarding a few modifications relating to installing a decent audio system that can put out good music with the top down. Until then, stay healty everyone.

Thank you all for your generous welcome. I consider a membership in s2ki to be a privilege. I also consider owning one of these sports cars as a real stress buster. Everyone seems to strike up a conversation about the car whether it is parked in a retail lot or stopped at an intersection. Fantastic automobiles that I should have been driving years ago. My 911 was never this fun, especially when it was in the shop for repairs.

Hey! Nice car & congrats. If it was a large sedan, probably wasn't made for speed, but even if there was no one to "beat" I'm sure it would be just as thrilling.

What 911 did ya have?

Have fun

Hi Bavarian Motorist. I am not an expert in BMW vehicles but it appeared to be in the 5 class or something like that. I never saw the rear end of his vehicle to ascertain the model. I have two close friends with an M5 and and M6. I doubt whether my silver bullet could have won against those machines. A couple of years ago i owned a 911 sc modified to produce an extra 60-70 horses. I liked it but it always seemed to have electical problems. Plus everyone always wanted to race. As you can see from my first posting, I try to minimize securing speeding tickets. I don't think the s2k is going to be much help in this regard. I live in ARizona and it is too fun to fire up the vtec with the top down.

Oh yeah..and I bet there are some nice canyons there too, right?

I assumed it was a 5 series when you said large sedan.

It's hard, because if you speed in traffic you probably won't get a ticket, but if you don't speed in traffic, you will get one. But obviously speeding in traffic is dangerous and short-lived.

Woe is us.

Congrats again. Everyone seems to want to race me also. lol

Very seldom noticed anyone wanting to race when I had my Vette. With this car it's almost a daily occurence. Ricers to Mustangs to SUV's that would rather intimidate you with some tailgating.
