First Honda
I'm 53 years old, and have owned primarily Japanese cars my entire life. My first car was a '72 Datsun 510, which I drove much too fast, and owned for 30 years. I had a Cartech turbo installed on a 2 liter L series motor, with the boost turned up to 15psi using an aquarium tank valve. That was high tech in 1984. I've also had a Triumph TR7 (first convertible, last British car), and 3 first gen Toyota MR2s (2 NA, 1 SC, which I owned for 20 years).
I made a short detour into a 2000 Porsche Boxster S, which drove wonderfully, but made me nervous with the potential for a catastrophic engine failure due to a poor design choice by the factory, and irritated by things like the fact that the gas tank never filled to the same point twice. I **think** it got about 20 mpg in normal driving, but I'll never be sure. 20mpg doesn't seem like very good mileage for a car that weighs exactly the same as the S2K, and has only about 15 hp more. The Porsche is now gone.
I bought a 2004 AP2, Silverstone with black interior, with 45K miles on it. I'm enjoying the car quite a bit so far .... MUCH different than the Boxster, but a lot of fun.
There is a set of Ohlins DFV shocks in the garage waiting to go on next Monday. I've always done 99% of the work on my cars, including engine rebuilds and string alignments. I look forward to working on this car.
I also have a first gen Miata that is in the middle of an LS3 V8 conversion. I've done all of the work on that myself using a V8 roadsters kit.
