Hello all. I have been on this site for a while now and finally I got ( well my wife and I) got our s2000. It is a 2001 GPW with OEM hard top. with 77k. We love it so far. But there is one thing with it if anyone knows what it is. The cars back end will clank once right when you drive it out of first. It does not do it all the time. maybe 4 out of 10. any ideas?

Rear end noise is typically the differential with these cars, but it may be CV joints. Try posting more details in the technical sections.

 

Nice car! Mine has made the same noise since new. I was told it was the differential and its normal. Never had a problem, so I've gotten used to it.

Yeah I just got a 01 too and I've noticed that there are some weird noises that occasionally come from the rear end like the ones you are describing. It may just be the differential like Mark said, but it wouldn't hurt to get underneath the car when you get a chance to check to make sure everything is ok.

Nice car! Look into 17x9 rear Enkei RPF1s. The 8" will not hold as much rubber, you want a bit of stagger, and the concave looks deadly.
