Default Great site.... time for an intro ;)

Hey guys, great site you've got here.
I've been lurking for a bit and finding great answers to a lot of my questions, but I think it's time to introduce myself.
My name is Andrew ( Gilpin as the username would suggest) and I'm a long time s2000 fan.
In December I decided to part with my trusty 02' nissan maxima ( 6spd manual) for a sweet deal on an '03 s2000 and I've been loving every minute of it.
I'm a full time mechanic, but also fun a side business breeding geckos and traveling around doing photography. I also rollerblade, snowboard, tint windows, and more recently got into powder coating.
I haven't done a real photo shoot with the s2000 yet, but I'll get around to it one of these days.... Until then, You'll be stuck with some crappy cell phone pics of that
I'll post up a few of my favorite photos from the last year or so to give you an idea of what we do when we travel around.

My wife and I dressed up for halloween in 2010:

Me examining a monstrous centipede found near Tucson, AZ

My wife Sarah with a Frilled dragon on our 5th anniversary trip to Australia this fall:

Brendan James performing at my sister's wedding:

My other sister and her fiance on their engagement shoot:

A night tiger snake also found on our trip to Australia:

Playing with water droplets:

Black tailed rattlesnake found near Portal, AZ

A praying mantis on our rental car windshield:

Mantis eating a cockroach:

A badass moth I found last year:

Same moth as above with some serious macro action:

Lightning and lightning bugs:

Okay.... so that's enough random crap, here are a couple of terrible pictures of my s2000

Scored some 350z rims for next to nothing, so here was the test fitment with the stock 350z tires ( will be putting the stock 17" s2000 tires on them when weather permits)
I've also taken up powder coating recently, so these will be the first wheels I do in a color called silver vein ( charcoal/black with silver striations)

Decided to get rid of the orange diffusers and side markers as they kind of clash with the candy yellow paint.... With the carbon fiber hood and spoiler, made some custom carbon fiber vinyl covers to put on them....
Before:

After:

Still got a few things I need to fix up on it, but I'm seriously enjoying this car so far and appreciate all of the time and help the members here take to make posts. Always great when people with similar interests get together and share ideas.

Probably a bit more of an intro than necessary, but I think it's nice to get a bit more of a personal feel of who you're talking to/helping out when it comes to forums
Thanks for reading a bit about me, and hope to spend some more time around these parts!
Andrew

Those tires are seriously fat..

Very cool pictures of the reptiles and bugs.

Personally feel like the carbon hood only works with lowered cars and aftermarket wheels but thats just my opinion

Welcome! drive safe and enjoy!

Oh, the tires are studded snow tires.... it really handles like crap with them on dry pavement, but they kick some serious ass in the snow and ice and are necessary since it's my daily driver.| can't wait to get some real tires on it though

I purchased the car with the carbon fiber on it, so I figure I'd go with the theme, plus the candy yellow paint would cost quite a bit to match....
I also find it odd when people spend the money to put carbon fiber on vehicles with little to no other modifications myself.... especially when the car has a factory aluminum hood that is only a few lbs heavier than the CF My WRX came with a CF hood as well, which I quickly changed out....

Thanks for the welcome
The color is a candy yellow.... like a super sparkly yellow/gold and is not a factory color. I think removing the vinyl around the windshield would look pretty bad since it's not the same as the car color . I'd never thought about it much, but on a factory color the windshield frame could look quite nice uncovered, just not in this case
