Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa
Hey guys
I recently purchased a 2007 Berlina Black S2000. It's VIN says its an AP1, but aside from the engine which is an F20C2 it's an AP2 (much the same as the rest of the world aside from the US and Japan I believe).
The car has 114000km or 71000 miles on the clock and it's had it's engine replaced with a brand new one by Honda at 80000km or 50000 miles. I'm told this was due to a factory defect so hopefully not abuse. The engine number confirms the engine is not the original so it has been replaced and the service books mention it. It also has a full service history at a Honda dealership.
The body is straight with no dents however their are some chips where it looks like some small stones hit the hood. Luckily it is all confined to the hood and is barely visible. The lights need a bit of restoration (faded/cloudy) but the interior, top and wheels are perfect. The engine, transmission and clutch feel strong.
I do however have a bit of clanking in the rear which I think may be axle nut torque issue and another vibration/noise which to me seems like it could range from clutch thrust bearing to exhaust rattle. I am new to this car so will be searching forums hard for reasons but at the moment it is not serious at all, just something I am aware of.
Now if anyone is still reading, a bit of my background. I am a young mechanical engineer working for a design company in Cape Town, South Africa. I work in the automotive industry doing design on trucks for a company in the USA, where I travel to between 3 to 6 months of the year. I have an old first generation RX-7 project car with an NA bridgeported 13B making about 200kw (268 Hp) and revving (limited) to 9500rpm (hence my interest in and F20C2). I built the car myself, converting it from carb to fuel injection (with ITB's), building my own megasquirt 2 ECU and tuning it entirely myself. I have quite a bit of experience/knowledge which I will be applying to my S2000 and I hope can be of some contribution to this forum.
It's great to be a part of this community, I am loving the S2000.
