Default Had to scratch an itch

Well, I am now the owner of a 2001 S2K GPW with 78k mi and a clean title. I looked feverishly for a week.

It all started out as a trip to my sisters house. She's had a 2000 S2K for a few years now and I always thought "hmmm. that's a fun looking car". As it was I woke up early on a Saturday and it was a beautiful day in the south (TN). She throws me the keys and say's "take her out for a ride".

I took off and I was immediately in awe. I was gone 2 hours and the only reason I came back was I couldn't find the release for the gas panel to put more juice in her! I was out of cell range and barely made it back home.

The experience of driving her car was the most enjoyment I've ever had in 4 wheels....well, while actually driving that is.

I had to fly out the next day back to LA and after searching for about 8 hours a day for a week I found the one that now sits in my garage. I realize I could have waited and tried to find a real gem but what if I didn't? I had a certain budget and the 2nd one I looked at fit all my parameters. My daily is 2013 S4. I love that car too but it's an altogether different horse.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my story and S2Ki has been an invaluable source.

Did you get it from a dealer or private seller? Been looking for one for almost a month myself!

Welcome.

Check out the link in my signature.

Is that an OEM front bumper? Curious why the middle mesh/grill part is painted, usually it comes black.

To be honest I don't have the history of the car. I noticed that too when I went to look at it but it wasn't enough to turn me off. I'm considering having it sprayed black by my body shop.
BTW. Your list was very helpful. I'm having my mechanic change everything on the first part of the list then I'll move on to the others. Thanks for posting it!

Congrats, i actually like that front bumper. But anyways, try doing some of the intial tune ups, fluid, and work on the car yourself. It's a great learning experience and makes you more attached to the car! There are diys for almost everything on this car
