Default Hello from ATL

Here's a somewhat ironic story about how I ended up deciding to buy a S2000.

My Dad decided to be one of the first in the U.S. to buy one years ago. I told him he was being foolish because, and I quote myself: "Honda doesn't know how to make a sports car." He bought one anyhow. After I chastised him a little, he took me for a spin then handed me the keys. After 5 miles I was convinced I was driving the best car ever built. After three years of drooling over his, waiting to see if it was only infatuation, and to be sure I wasn't going to change my mind, I finally decided life is too short and I had to have one. I found my blue '02 sold by the original owner with just over 15K miles. I have never looked back and look forward to my commute every day.

Welcome...I am in ATL as well and am in somewhat of a quandry about an S2000 as an only vehicle. Actually, more of a buy a cheap beater truck for utility and a S2000 as well to have the best of both worlds.

By the way, when did you purchase your S2000 and if you don't mind me asking, how much?

Haha, I told my Dad the same things a few years ago when he was looking at getting one!

Fast-forward a few years and I decided it was time to buy one Difference is my Dad never bought one. He held on to his Grand Prix for a few more years then bought an '04 GTO.

I bought it in March '04 for $23,500 and paid no sales tax since it was a non-dealer sale. The car had 15K miles on it, so I felt pretty good about the deal. However I missed a miniscule ding in the drivers door (can only be seen at an angle), didn't know the spare had been re-installed upside down, missed that it had newer S-02 tire on the rear, and that the rear bumper had been removed and installed below the brackets underneath the taillights. Obviously the owner before me never bothered to read the owners manual and had some incident which blew a rear tire and knocked off the bumper (at least on one side). I was so focused on inspecting the frame, engine, and drivetrain that I missed those other things... No matter, I re-installed the bumper and the spare, and rescued the S2000 from someone who wasn't taking care of it like it like they should have.

Otherwise it has been very good to me. The blue/blue color took some time to get used to, but I actually really like it now.

btw, do you guys see a lot of S2000's in Atlanta on a daily basis?
Not too too common in Atlanta, but we do have a weekly dinner meet and have lately had 6-20 S's attend. In the warmer months, we have monthly drives, either in the N GA mtns or in Alabama. The Atlanta S2k group is closely approaching 100 paid members with 100's of additional S owners or enthusiasts.

Personally, I don't know any Chattanooga S owners. I get up there sometimes to see my sister's family. The S moves great up Signal Mtn.

Most Chattanooga owners hang out in the Smokey Mountain Owners forum

Welcome all!
