Default Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone, not quite an S2K owner yet but looking to acquire one soon. I’d recently sold my E46 M3 and looking to get into another special car. Owning an S2K would cross off another dream car owned off the list! Hopeful to get into one soon and chat with fellow owners!

Just got mine in March. Never drove one and my test drive was not a proper one due to traffic and city/highway congestion. Honda Kool-Aid is my favorite and bought my 2015 Accord LX manual without cross-shopping it(didn’t know it had hill-assist!). My sister had a 90’s Civic 4-dr Vtec manual that was a hoot, then a GSR Integra manual and a V6 Accord coupe manual.

Needless to say, I don’t have any complaints. It’s a great package for making you feel like you’re going fast without really doing it or getting in trouble with a high-hp car. That engine sound

Those are great things to hear. I’m hoping to get into an NFR AP2, although I’m open to either AP1 or AP2 because I haven’t owned a Honda before. Coming from an M3 the things I hear raved about the most about the S2K is the handling and usable power as you mentioned. It’ll get the full treatment from me! Haha. Wider upsized to 17” wheels, coilovers, exhaust etc. I love building cars, and I love driving them while building them even more. I also love that there’s a dedicated forum to the S2000. It gives me the Japanese M3 kind of vibe honestly. Looking forward to future ownership!

Hi Notan,
First, the S2K is not a BMW, thankfully. Having owned both, some E30 M3's and the S2K, I don't miss the M3's at all.
OK, I know that an E30 is not an E46, but they did the BTCC pretty well among others.
Second, before starting to mod one I suggest you drive it a long time to get familiar with it first. You may find that it does just fine without any mods, since
most mods may improve something but also take something away at the same time and you will miss what is gone maybe more than what is added.
Third, it you have to get involved, then just doing routine things like maintenance may be plenty and your S2K will thank you for the preventive maintenance.
Fourth, there are important differences between an AP1 and an AP2 even though they are both Hondas, so you might get familiar with them before deciding.
Fifth, any five liter pony car will blow an S2K away so don't expect E46 power even with a modded S2K.
Sixth, the stock wheels on an AP2 are 17's, they are plenty wide, and will retrofit on an AP1 and the speedo won't know the difference. Further, they won't rub the inner fenders which many wider wheels will.
Seventh, aftermarket exhausts wont add any power and may add so much drone that you can't drive it, and Honda knows how to develop engines to
make power at least as well as BMW did, and they also provide engines for Formula One so no one does it better.
Good luck with your search.
Larry
