Default Hello! Looking for advice on buying S2K

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking this forum for about 2 months now. I recently bought an apartment and luckily for me it has two parking spots, and I'm quite set on filling that second spot with an S2000!

I'm quite familiar Hondas, I grew up being driven around in a '92 Civic, and last year I bought a 2014 Accord.

Once the deal closes on my apartment I will be able to buy the S2000 which will be in October. I've been following the market near where I am for a while, but now that I'm getting closer to being able to buy the car, I was hoping the community here would be able to provide some tips about buying an S2000 such as signs of the car not being taken care of properly, or how to know you're getting a good deal.

Picture of my Accord below just because.

Ok I just found this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/775...-a-used-s2000/

Will give it a good read tonight, but either way would love to hear from people's experience about buying their S2K here!

Welcome! Hope you live in an area where auto theft/vandalism is not an issue. It makes me cringe every time I read a post about S2000s and apartments because many of them turn into horror stories about how their top got slashed, parts stolen, or whole car gets taken. See Keeping Your S2000 Safe at Night. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, just encouraging you to please be realistic and take appropriate precautionary measures once you find "the one." Best of luck in your search!

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely keep that in mind. Luckily my apartment is covered and secure parking (gated with fob keys) so I'm not too worried about it.

I see the lil' Canuck flag and question if you intend to drive an S2000 after 1 November. We're on the North Coast (other side of Lake Erie from you) and my car (and countless others) goes into storage for the winter. Potholes, road salt, no traction with the "extreme performance summer" tires these cars love to run. We see wrecked S2000s every week here caused by inexperience this time of year and slick pavements (especially bridges) in colder weather.

Prices will bottom out when it gets cold of course.

There are a zillion threads on "what to buy." Same criteria applies: Low miles. Late model. Easy rule thumb is "under 40K miles" and "2006 or later." The ability to tune the ECU on the '06 and later cars is reason enough.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely some of those points in mind.

That being said I think you have your Canadian geography mixed up =P albeit I am from Vancouver where the Canucks are based, Vancouver is actually on the west coast, about 2 hours north of Seattle. We MAYBE see 2 days of snow a year, max. But either way, I am hoping that prices will drop come winter time.

Yep, Vancouver (either of 'em) doesn't qualify for Great White North status. (Winter training with Canadian Forces in Ontario a few years ago we dropped to -40°.)
