Default Hello in the market for a 06 in hawaii!

Hi found this great forum, a little about me, im not new to forums and not new to hondas. This may be my 4th honda since my first . Finally the day has come and in the market for a 06. I just moved from seattle and live in hawaii now

well my unique situation is there are 3 Honda dealers on the island and all have a few left over 06s, ive been to all 3 and only 1 has black (my first choice).

the last 06 shipment is arriving in 2 days and a black is on the way. the problem is all have silver and i can live with that and i got the price to 34 OTD (hawaii tax is 4.17%) that came out to be 32,400 ish before tax regi etc. I have a few questions, i know its a great time to buy but is the hawaii market any different from the mainland? Do i have any other options than these 3 dealers?

of that i am interested
1 has only silver (MY01/06)

and the last has a silver and a black one coming in mint

another has silver (MY06/06) and black (06/06)

the problem with the black one, it was kept outside, little scratches here and there and while we went for a test drive , in shock the salesmen redlined 4 times.... i couldnt believe my eyes, this car had 47 miles and my guess is 47 x 4 redlines.

these are my only choices now and finacially i can spend 35 on the spot ( is it a advantage or disadvantage to pay in full?) but of course im pushing as hard as i can to lower

the salesment just would not go below msrp on the black one coming in and dont know if its worth msrp in my book.

should i be in the market for an 07? is it possible to get 34 OTD with an 07?

sorry for the long post but feed back is greatly appreciated.

ps- amazing car but im sure you guys know that

I wouldn't take that one... Perhaps they do the same thing on other S2000's?

Market prices in Hawaii are more $$ then the Mainlands (shipping, etc). I would offer around $31,500 plus tax etc...(more than fair). If not just wait for the 07's (no changes), and pay around $33,500 plus taxes!!!

We should yearn for the days when test drives were not allowed in a new S2000.

just curious why you didn't purchase in the mainland when you had the chance, ship it over for $975? There are more choices in Seattle, and you could have gotten the BB you always wanted.

I was at Pflueger Honda the other day and say many many leftover 05s as well (sebring and Rio color). If money is tight, why don't you consider an 05 and bargain it down?

I would get the 06 when the 07 comes out, then the dealers are more likely to deal on the 06. Also, during that time, the rainy season will be upon us; bad time for a convertible.

hawaii was a last minute move as i was supposed to be in japan right now. man it was awesome there but i did miss my chance on the mainland but it was all on short noticed. i would love an 05 new if there any around for the fact that mods are more out there. but i plan to keep this car until i die or it dies so id figure why not bite the bullet and buy new.

so the prices in hawaii are higher. i got the black one that was redlined matched 34 OTD which made it 32300 give or take but to being fair i am satisfied with that price but would like some extended warantee, does dealers budge on warantee?

thanks for the feedback

See if you can hook up with Colin (that's his user name). He's a Honda sales guy out there.

Welcome!
