Hello & pre-ownership questions
Hello S2000 folk.
I've just spent a week with an S2000 and it's made me realise that I need to grow up, break my addiction to boy racer hot hatches and buy a proper car. I love the S2000 and I NEED one now!
My own car, a Renault Megane R26, is generally regarded as being at the very top of the hot hatch pile, but Honda are taking their toy back tomorrow and I just can't bear the thought of getting back into my turbo charged shopping trolley. Despite being similar in terms of pace to the S2000 and having superb ride, grip and handling, it just feels boring and ordinary now - I need RWD and V-TEC and I need it now.
One thing the renault does do quite well at though is ecomomy - I'm a bit of a lead foot but it still averages c.29mpg (according to the computer which if Renault quality is anything to go by, probably isn't too accurate). So, how will an S2000 compare running costs wise?
Also, is it safe to buy an S2000 that hasn't got too much warranty left? I can't believe that it would be like the Renault, i.e. buy brand new and get rid before the warranty expires.
Anyway, sorry for the lengthy mail and the many questions, but any advice and comments will be gratefully received.
Cheers........

I'd say it's safe to buy a higher miles car.
I bought mine at 75,000 miles. I'm at 112,000. All i've done is:
-Clutch
-fresh shocks
-new retainers (my own screwup, not maintainance).
-fresh top.
The clutch probably wouldn't have been neccesary had I not let someone testdrive it. Nothing i've really replaced has been a warranty item anyhow.

It really isn't to costly to maintain the S. They are fairly easy to work on and parts are not exspensive. You can average about 24-27 mpg if you are keeping an eye on your right foot.
