Default Help !

Hello there. Need some help on some simple issues.
Living in Singapore, and ordered a Deep Burgundy Metallic Type V from Japan 3 months ago which has just (finally) arrived. (They don't sell them here so have to indent). Anyways, she/he (is your S2K female or male by the way?) looks gorgeous !!!!! Very happy, but one tiny issue .... the manual is in Japanese !!!!!
Anyways, can anyone let me know briefly the basics of driving it? Do I have to depress the clutch to start it (even in neutral) as it didn't start yesterday until I put my foot down on the clutch. Anything I should know about my first drive? (I havn't driven a manual for over 6 years now). I'll be picking her (got to be a she right?) up from the showroom on Monday after she is registered. All I need is a simple step by step guide to driving. Sure it's been discussed before, but couldn't find it on a search. Sorry guys n gals, had to ask. (I know about the break in period so no need to discuss that, just a simpe a to z on driving, in English).
Or else, does anyone know if the handbook is available on pdf file on the net somewhere?
Thanks a million

Congratulations!!!

Depress the clutch and press the big red "Fun Starts Here" button.

Avoid full throttle and hard acceleration for the first 600 miles (or 1000 km) and keep it under 5500 rpm. Just drive it the way you normally drive a manual tranny car.

BTW, you have to set the parking brake to operate the top. There's a "hack" that will get around it. Search on the forums.

That's pretty much it.

Thanks Frosty. Now, silly question, but does anyone here, when approaching a red light, shift from 3rd straight to neutral and gently coast to a stop, or do we all shift down through the gears. And does stopping gently in neutral ruin the engine? As you can tel I'm green. Either it's been discussed before or else it's too basic a subject to discuss on this forum. Forgive me. Also, mine is a 2.2 litre which revs to 8200rpm. Anyone else here drive a 2.2 know of any differences in handling from the 2 litre? Performance specs are similar.
And is yours a he or a she?

Mine is an "IT." It's not a 'he' becuz I am not homosexual. It's not a 'she' becuz then my wife might get jealous. *sigh* Such is married life.

If I am in gear when approaching a red light, usually I just leave it in that gear until I am down to about 10 mph and I shift into neutral and come to a stop. If the mood strikes me, I practice heel-and-toeing when approaching the red light and work it down the gears. That's just me though.

Actually I ordered the Deep Burgundy Metallic without actually having seen the car, but just because it looked like a nice colour on the Japanese website: http://www.honda.co.jp/S2000/type/typev-ext/index.html but having finally seen the car, to be honest, I was a little dissapointed. It looks very dull. Maybe it was the garage flourescent lights. I'm sure it looks better in the sunlight. Anyways, will be sure to post pics as soon as I take delivery. As for stick shifting, yes, I drove manual cars before, but not for six years now. Since I moved to Singapore I couldn't afford a car. Most expensive city to buy a car. This one cost me US $ 90,000, and the car loan is 8yrs !!! I'm now well and truly broke, but very happy ! Anyways, driving a manual is like riding a bike right? I'm sure it'll all come back to me.

Singapore, you should get a s2ki.com membership and post some photographs of this unique car. That stuff is not available outside the JDM market!!!

Congrats.

That is an UNBELIEVABLE amount of money to spend on our little car, but congrats and I can't wait to see apicture.

Can't help you with the Japanese manual, though. Recommend you get some English manuals from Helms or from a Honda dealer. It might not cover all your goodies, but it'd be worth having.

In any case, we'll try to answer your quesitons.

Thanks for the thumbs up Chaz and all. Will be sure to get a good pic of my ride under a palm tree or something quite soon. I'm sure Deep Burgundy Metallic will be available for 2007 over there. And you"ll prob get VGS once all stock runs out of the 2 litre. Great to find this website. Learnt so much about the car before getting it. Thanks y'all. (kinda wishing I'd gone for GPW now !)

Post pics! That color will look better in the sun - have you waxed it yet? Be sure and get a good coat of wax on it too.
