hey everyone-teach me the way of the s2k
Hey everyone i'm Paul. I live right outside of Cincy. My buddy TJ (Tjs S2k, i think) is on here and told me to get onto here for any questions i might have. I'm coming from the world of an ls1. A 98 TA WS6 to be exact. I've had the car for close to a year but it's just not what i'm looking for. I will be getting my first s2k this spring but don't really know what i'm getting myself into. Are there any weakspots on the s2ks? Rearends or anything? I've also had a bad experience with a convert before so how do the tops hold up? Thanks everyone and nice to meet all of you.
Yo dude glad to see to on here finally. So much better then texting all t his to you haha. The difference in the years is
2000-2003 AP1
Redlines 9k
2.0 Liter
Stiffer suspension
Different front and rear bumpers
00-02 had plastic windows
03 Ap1 has glass with rear defroster
Cheap now- 10-15k
2004-Current Ap2
Redlines 8k
2.2 Liter (more Tq)
More streetable (softer suspension)
Handle a little better from the factory
More expensive -16k and up
Paul , as you know I have beat the shit out of my car this summer, No serious problems. It has a small valve tick but nothing serious. I dragged it (not really a drag car) many times. The rear end holds up fine if you dont drop the clutch. The top is very easy to tear and alot of people get small holes (i have one now) THey are around 600 bucks to replace

the clutch and the rear dif are the weak spots on the S, the dif will hold up as long as u dont launch to often or u dont have to much power from going FI,but if u do plan on going FI I recomend a stronger clutch and a reinforced rear dif if u plan on dragging the car
Hello Tator
...In my opinion you are going to miss the torque for the simple fact that the S2000 has the amount of a civic. So if you race civics expect to stay with them until you hit vtec, then you only see them in your rearview mirror trying to catch up(unless it's a fully built k20 civic or they are boosted).
As others have stated in the posts above, the differential and the clutch are the weak points in the car. Replace/reinforce those 2 items and you will be set to go boosting up to a good 400 rwhp, maybe even more if you have a proper tune.
Motor is very strong(forged internals FTW)...Ap2's is a little stronger and the ap2 tranny gears are carbon(except for 1st and Reverse). I hope this gets you started...Oh and btw, love the username...Reminds me of that comedian Ron White
(one of my faves).
Good Luck
