Default Hey guys!

Looks like I'll be one of you soon! My name is Evan. I'm from Las Vegas, NV. I've been shopping around for a while for a new project/DD, almost solely looking at G35s. But, alas, my budget won't quite allow for it. Fortunately I stumbled across a great looking 2001 S2K that, hopefully, i'll be picking up.

Now, I'm youngish (18) and not super car savvy..

When I was shopping for G's, I had compiled a rough list of the mods I wanted to start with. Things that were relatively easy to do on my own and somewhat cheap. Among them were a 5/16 plenum spacer, new intake, high flow cats, sway bars, springs, etc. These are somewhat common mods for G owners.

So, my question is, are there any mods for the S2000 I just 'need' to get? I haven't yet dug through the forum, though i'm sure I'll also find my answer with a bit of searching. I'm just looking for a bit of guidance.

So, that's about it. I'll get a few pictures up as soon as I get it. I intend on being a fairly active member.

Welcome! You don't NEED to get mods for this car, but of course you can mod it to your liking. This car has a perfect 50/50 balance with the way it is and it's a thrill to drive even when it's stock. But if you're the type of guy who wants torque out of this beast, then turbo is the way to go, but this car wasn't meant to fly in straights.

Welcome Evan! There is a ton of info on this site - I'm sure you'll get some ideas as you poke around the forums. Either way, I also recommend getting a good feel for the car if you end up purchasing, then go from there. It is pretty darn good stock. Good tires are a great place to start in the mod department though - a standard piece of equipment that can make a huge difference on this car.
Suspension, wheels, and stereo systems are common mods, but you'll be able to see based on your needs if things need changing. Cheap suspension components, for example, can actually decrease the performance of the car's handling compared to stock, while a good pair of coilovers can enhance it for consistent track/autocross guys. Most of the time though, good performance mods = $$$.

Drive the car, get a good feel for it stock, throw some quality rubber on there, and take it from there - you'll avoid spending $$ on mods you don't really want/need, and end up being able to get what you really do want.

Good luck with the purchasing process, we look forward to having you around!
