Default Hey guys, come to join the family.

ok so i bought an s2k about a month ago and have been debating joining s2ki. the reason that i have been on the fence about it is because i know because of my age im gonna get ridiculed. yes i am 16, turning 17 on thursday the 21st, but im not the typical " daddy daddy s2000 pretty me want now" 16 year old. ive been intersted in cars my whole life and the s2k has always been a dream of mine. after my 96 es300 burned out 3 months ago i have spent literally ALL of my time researching s2k's and figuring out if it was the right car for me and after deciding i could actually afford it monthly (its the right car for everybody in my opinion but lets leave that alone.) sorry for the life story but i hope you guys understand that i really want to share my passion with other enthusiasts and not get mocked every time i respond to a post as i have in other forums. thanks for your time guys and rev on.(corny?)

from NY, be sure to stop and visit often. It's a great place if you should have any questions.

I admire you for having your act together enough at 16 to be able to buy and maintain an S2000. That came at least a decade later for me.

Take it easy until you learn how the car behaves and good luck!

Welcome!!

Absolutely have your dad take you to an autox so you can learn the limits of the car safely. A parent will need to sign the waiver to allow you to participate. The s2k, and AP1 in particular, is a tricky car and can bite the hell out of an experienced driver, let alone one who has had a license less than 2yrs.

And age shouldn't be that big of a deal anymore when talking about affording an s2k. They have become affordable for many teens.

Age isn't a big deal . . . there are many people on the site that are twice your age that get ridiculed for their posts. The nature of your posts are what counts. A few things to keep in mind. First, before posting a question, search. So many quesitons have been asked and answered over and over. Second, think before you post. The amount of junk that people post is just amazing. Third, don't think that you have to be a post whore to be an active member. I'd much rather contribute one or two quality posts per day than 15 or 20 single-sentance posts. Enjoy the car and the community.

WOW! An s2k at 16. Like raymo19, I didn't get my S till a decade later.

Just be very careful with this car. It can get away from you real quick. And as mentioned, even experienced drivers still have trouble with the S at times, let alone a fairly new driver. Make sure you take your time with the car to understand the limits of it. Just don't be a statistic of another young/new driver crashing the S and you'll be fine.

By the way, where do you live? This is a vehicle you don't want to drive in the snow if avoidable. Can be done, but I just don't believe you have enough experience yet to do it.

Anyways, congrats on the purchase. Enjoy and drive safe.

Unfortunately there was no such thing as a 1984 S2000 so I had to settle for a Camaro.
