Default Hi!

Hi all,

Just bought myself a black '02 s2k, red interior, with only 25k miles. Sweet!

Sold my Z06 for this one (and for some extra cash to spend on my gf, ha ha), and I'm really happy with the car overall--the cockpit is awesome. Feels like how a sports car should feel. Unfortunately, the car is a dissappointment performance-wise, in both handling and power. But I know the potential is there!--and I will definitely be hitting you guys up for suggestions on making this car the perfect sports car! Looking forward to meeting some new friends too! I'm sure there's a large s2k community in my area... gonna be fun times.

Yours,
Dean

Here you go--the cars in my signature. (real AE86 is blue/carbon, real 240SX is grey, the other two are color correct)

Welcome to the site.
I can certainly understand your disappointment with the power/torque & straight line performance (NO comparison), but don't count the s2k out in the twisties!

oh no doubt. i'm not dissing our cars at all--i wouldn't keep it if i didn't think it would make a badass car. but you know how vettes are not known for handling, and truthfully i didn't like how the steering felt either--very numb. however, it could take INSANE corners. that car was full corner-balanced and lowered about 3/4". very well tuned. well, i thought the s2k would be much sharper turning, and it really isn't. it actually grips less and is even slower to turn. could be the factory tires it has--they're new, but same as originals. maybe upgrading tires would help a lot. but no doubt, there is promise at the the end of the tunnel.

sorry about the pic thing. i dunno why sometimes it's an x. but if you cut and paste the link it will work. my site might be over the hosting throughput limits.

You can dial in the handling by using various tire/wheel combos as well as suspension setups. If you are really looking to tighten it up, you will probably want to look into some lightweight 17" wheels, some sticky tires and a set of full coilovers. As for power, you can spend mucho $$ chasing scant few HP. Most effective upgrade is forced induction, be sure to check out that subforum, plenty of great knowledge out there. Good luck, great color combo.
