Hi in the market for an AP2
Hey folks!
Finally opened an account while hunting of an AP2. I'm in the SE USA so hopefully prices will be a bit in my favor. Looking to use the board to do some research and learning to make sure I get the car that I want.
I see a lot of black interiors in pictures of S2000s does anyone have one with a tan interior?

Tan interior was only offed in the last AP1/early AP2 cars, 2003-4-5 and only if the exterior was white -- sorry, that's Grand Prix White for those who adore that color.
So you won't find an AP2 car newer than 2005 (no DBW, stability control, etc.) with a tan interior unless it's aftermarket
Best data available shows 1923 imported to the US. How many survive is anyone's guess.
Some shade of Silver composes nearly half the imports over the 10 years.
My '06 AP2 is boring all black.

Edited to correct bad data (thanks for noting this, Hfreak!)

Thanks for the info folks. Yeah from my search a tan AP2 is nearly unheard of.
Any idea what a full body paint job would do to the resale value of the car? I've seen a ton of silver cars, but I'd like a New Formula Red or Laguna Blue Pearl. If I did have the car painted, I would stick to an OEM color.
I don't have plans for the car beside keeping it mostly stock. I would like Bluetooth for audio but reliability would be the key for the rest of the car.
I'm tempted to test drive this Berlina Black AP2 near me but it has 165k miles. I was hoping for something around 90k - 120k.
The dream setup would be tan / white interior in a Laguna Blue Pearl car. But those seem like a complete overhaul of a cars esthetics.

People change out their interiors to get the tan. I think there's one for sale in NY Metro now.
A full body paint job could increase the value of your car if the paint is bad. However a color change my be unfavorable to the value if the car is say GPW originally or if you go to some crazy color. A good paint job in an OEM color may be the best way to maintain the value. However original paint is king. Some may think that you are hiding something with a new paint job. Me? Personally I'd stay away from a fully repainted car. It would put me on the defensive.

Also to add not only would the seats need to be changed to tan, but the floor liner, door accent pieces, and the center console trim pieces would need to be modified. It sounds kind of like my options are: Buy the car I want OR buy a car and love it for what it is...
