I have been lurking for about 8 months both doing tons of research before purchasing a 2000 NFR S2000 with 58k on it last September. My car S2000 is basically stock with an upgraded stereo/speakers and a cold air intake put on by the first owner. I have done the following so far:
Clazzio Seat covers (black leather with alcantara center and red stitching)
Honda Access Floormats
Tanabe Medallion Touring Exhaust has been ordered but since it is backordered who knows when it will arrive.
The car began its winter hibernation less than two months and let me tell you, don't buy a car so soon before having to put it away! I dream about driving the car which should hopefully happen within a month or two.
I am looking forward to getting to know the S2000 better on a track with plans for lots of auto-x events and track days in the future!
Here is a picture of the S2000 from shortly after I bought it.
I am located in Rochester. I previously had a 2004 Dodge SRT-4 that got me into auto-x and track days which I found through MotorsportsReg.com. I will have to check out mnautox.com, thanks for the tip!
I loved the SRT-4 but I can't wait to flog a proper sports car on the track, especially top down. The SRT-4 was fun to drive but nothing I have driven compares with the S2000 when it comes to fun factor!
We use motorsportsreg for our event registration, so they will all show up there once the schedule is together. A bit of a trek for you, but our events are typically on the south side of the cities so that is a little closer at least. Most are at Dakota County Technical College and Canterbury. We will have a couple of events (2 day practice/competition event) weekends at the pad at BIR as well this summer.
The SCCA Track Night in America events are at DCTC as well and are a ton of fun. Not a bigger track like BIR, but you get 3 20 min sessions, it starts at 4pm and is a lot cheaper and closer than BIR. Usually 3-5 S2k's out there for those.
Visiting my folks in Minnesota now, my s2000 has never been here though. I feel like id want a powerful car if i lived here with how flat and straight the roads are.
So you are friends with Alex K ? He mentioned he had a friend from Rochester who just purchased a red S2k and I remembered this thread :P He and I met through autocross and then ended up working together. We both attend most of the Track Night in America events at DCTC as well. Small world!

Yep, I do know Alex K and I have been at a handful of the Track Nights and lots of auto-x events at DCTC. Alex is a hell of a driver, I slowed him down way too much at the first Track Night before I got the hang of letting people pass.. I was driving a blue Dodge SRT-4 at the time so if you remember that car that was me. Going from a high performance economy car to a purpose built sports car is going to be quite a change, I can't wait!
