Default HID problems

Hey guys,

It raining hard and my driver side HID went out. I thought it was the bulb so I bought new Osram D2S bulbs, still didn’t work..
I replaced the control ballast with a brand new OEM now the light flickers and turns off within 5 seconds.
I double checked all the connections everything seems in contact.
I haven't switched headlights to see if it works on the passenger side yet.

Anyone have this issue? Help please.

Swap parts between the passenger side (still functioning) until you can isolate the source of the problem.

Does the wattage of the bulb matter? The OE HIDs are 35w. Not sure if a higher watt bulb would cause this effect.

If it's an Osram, which is an OE supplier, then it won't be 55w as OEM specs are 35w.

Try switching the passenger side (functioning) ballast over to the dead driver side. Flickering light suggests a dead ballast.

Thanks, I’m going to remove my bumper and switch headlights to see if I still have the same problem.

To be continued..

I removed the driver side headlight and installed it on the passenger side.

It was the driver side fuse that was bad. I also replaced the headlight rubber boots. Everything is working now.

Thanks for the help.
