Default Hoping to become an Owner Soon - 04 Is it Worth It

I am looking to buy a yellow 04 S2000 and I need to see if it's going to be worth price.

So it's very clean with the exception for a fender scratch and one paint chip.
70K miles and runs perfectly.

Also has a matching Hardtop.

Anyways, hes looking for 16,000.

Does this sound about right? Edmunds basically rates the price at around 13,000 for just the car. Would the hardtop make it reasonable for that price?

And if it means anything, it has enkei rpf1's, comes with separate not installed Apexi tail pipe.

Thanks Guys,

Tiger

I'm also shopping around now for a hopeful purchase around August/September. I have decided on an AP2 04-05 silver with red/black interior, with a goal to stay under 15k. The car you are looking at is a bit pricey, and like you observed Edmunds and NADA will value it much less. You will have to evaluate how much the hardtop and tail pipe are worth to you, and negotiate appropriately. A guy in my area is selling his yellow 04 in excellent condition with 85k miles on craigslist asking $13.5, price negotiable so I think you could find a better deal.

You also might notice on ebay that almost none are selling despite having bidders as the reserve is never met. To me this demonstrates that buyers have an advantage in this economic depression and are placing a lot of downside market pressure on the price. Because of this, if you find a seller who is motivated to sell sooner rather than later, I think you have the negotiating power - especially if you are informed on the comparable sells and current market value.

Oh an hello s2ki, I haven't posted a hello since I don't own the car yet, though I have lurked for some time and really enjoy the community. I have learned a lot, and since I have never owned a nice car of any kind, am super excited about picking up an S!

04, 70k miles, 16k, not worth it. I think $14k would be more reasonable.

Hardtop might push it between $14-15K, but as stated, $16K is a bit high. I bought my 05 with 53k on it for that price, Honda CPO as well.

Good luck...there should be plenty of S's out there for you to choose from, so don't jump at the first thing.

Price seems a little high, and also it seems like the car was previously modified, so you may not want to get involved. Used hardtops fetch anywhere from 1,500 - 2,000$ these days, so the hardtop really doesn't justify asking a higher price for the car IMO. If anything, it would be the anchor point for the sale/purchase.

I would keep looking, there's tons of s2000's for sale. You will find something better and for less money most likely.
